Every child needs a hero to look up to, for as long as time can tell, men were put on a pedestal and this hierarchy has existed ever since. There is a new era of heroes and leaders, and strong women are breaking down this misogynistic hierarchical system and are the building blocks of a new and brighter era. This has to begin somewhere, so conditioning children's minds seems to be the hot new trend. By showing strong female characters in movies and television shows, it is an accessible way of subconsciously encouraging young men and women to be like the characters that are not to be trifled with. Wonder Woman is resilient,despite all odds against her. At one point, she leads an army of men fearlessly into battle, head on. At points when the men coward out of fear, Wonder Woman rose above and faced the source of others’ fear. Another courageous woman, was Mulan. Mulan was an honorable warrior. When her father is called for war, she secretly takes his place, while simultaneously keeping her identity as a woman a secret seeing that it would result in death if it were to be revealed. At the time, Chinese culture ordered that a lady must act and look ladylike. The men fought and were the bread bringers of the household. Mulan blossomed from being a weak girl to a warrior leading her camp full of men and outdoing nearly every drill that was conducted. The emperor acknowledged this and gave her a sword of honor and thanked her for saving China. Another feisty young woman was Merida, who was destined to be something great. Throughout the film, she demonstrates how she is extraordinarily brave. At the very beginning, with no impromptu, she climbs a rock, that is known only to be climbed by the bravest of men. Later, when her mother is nearly killed, she jumps in front of her without any hesitation. Leslie Knope is the overly optimistic and quirky mayor of Pawnee. She always wants the best for her town. Leslie keeps in mind that she is a role model. She tries to be the best role model that she can be. Selina Meyer runs for president of the United States. She is a relatable woman who has her moments of pure embarrassment, just like any other person would. She may look foolish at times, but she never lets that get her down. Erin Brockovich is one of the boldest women to live by leading people and by serving justice to those who rightfully deserve it. These people were suffering, they felt they had no voice and was hopeless. They needed someone to stand up and be resilient, they needed Erin. She stops at nothing to reveal the ugly truth behind the evil corporations who are killing people because of their carelessness of their waste disposal
