In 1901, the Trans-Atlantic radio signal was first transmitted. Two years later, the Wright Brothers successfully took to the skies in their powered Wright Flyer 1 at Kitty Hawk. By 1905, Einstein shocked the scientific community with his theory of relativity. By the preceding examples of technological achievements, it’s safe to conclude that the 1900s were a time of progression. Gone were the days of archaic blood sports and nonsensical conflicts. Primitively, the 20th century ushered in a new, more civilized man. However, old habits die-hard and so do century old feuds. The main causes of WW1 were militarization, imperialism, nationalism, and social Darwinism. World War 1 was upon us. As man advanced, so did their ideologies of warfare. The First World War was no mere squabble fueled by a petty feud. This conflict embodied the MIND framework: militarization, imperialism, nationalism, and social Darwinism. To start with, it is important to note that the rise of Germany and its rapid development in the economic and military spheres were the main factors in increasing tension between the European states.
