The Last Straw

Was America brought into World War One due to propaganda from the Allies? Lots of countries used large sums of money for propaganda. Countries often used propaganda to justify their actions and to sway the favor of other countries. This form of “art” was used so mischievously that some people who studied it call it a sort of warfare. The reasons why America went to war with Germany is because of propaganda, the Armenian Genocide, and financial ties to Britain.
Often in times of war, especially in World War One, countries used propaganda to justify their side and get other countries to join them. Propaganda is a weapon that the allies used to get America into World War One. “One of the first actions carried out by Britain at the start of the war was to cut Germany’s undersea communication cables, ensuring that Britain had a monopoly on the fastest means of transmitting news from Europe to press agencies in the United States of America”(Cooke 1). This evidence is important because it shows that once the war started Britain tried to gain full control of the story about the war that America would be hearing. Britain was a huge financial and military supporter to America during the 20th century. “Britain is- the single most important provider of air bases for the U.S. air force, home to the world’s greatest financial hub which is of pivotal importance to the solvency of the entire U.S. banking system”(Alexander 1). This proves that America joined the war on the allies side because of its financial and military ties to the British Empire. Britain provides air bases for America’s air force which is very critical in a time of war. Also, having the world’s greatest financial hub makes it very important for American business. To conclude America has many reasons why it got into World War One and joined on the Allies
