The overall purpose of this investigation was to determine the effects of different types of environments on pill bug attractancy. Pill bugs were exposed to 2 different environments (sugar and water). The attractancy was observed and recorded in a raw data table. A research hypothesis was formulated that the sugar would work as the best attractant for pill bugs. Sugar had the greatest impact of the two environments used because it attracted 8/9 ants.

After testing, it was found that ethanol depressed the heart rate while exposed, but the heart rate stabilized after exposure. With exposure to nicotine, the heart rate increased by 20%. If more nicotine was added, the effects were varied and sometimes irreversible.

The effects of alcohols on membrane have also been researched quite extensively. Previous studies have found that alcohols disrupt the structure of cell membranes (Goldstein, 1986). They have also found that ethanol has a stronger effect than other alcohols (Patra et al, 2005). From this research and literature the expected results of the experiment were to see an increase in membrane permeability, this result was observed. The study provides a brief insight into what kind of effects alcohol can have on cell membranes but it is limited.

Viola Canales, the author, talks about the main protagonist, Sophia, and how she celebrates her culture. The making of Easter cascarones, celebrating Dia de Los Muertos, and her connection with her father, Sophia’s life is not so different from mine. Therefore, Sophia’s life and experiences are uncanny similarities to mine and that is what this essay will focus on.

In this story, we are able to see how the life of a commoner does not need to be shown in statistics. Through the lens of Menocchio’s trial documents we have the ability to see how one man saw the world and how he interacted with others in his small town. Through his interactions with other citizens of his time we are able to draw conclusions on the world around him. Stories such as Menocchio’s give us an important understanding on relationships in cultures lost to history.
In this essay I will argue that the reasoning behind perdurantism, more specifically worm theory, is more satisfactory in explaining the persistence of the milk over time then the opposing endurantist claims, though it is not without fault. It is first important to examine what we mean by identical. It is important to distinguish between being qualitatively and quantitatively identical. If the object was qualitatively identical, then it must possess all the same qualities, and if an object is quantitative the same, then it will also possess the same spaciotemporal property. With regards to whether the fresh milk and the sour milk are identical, we are referring to their quantitative identity, so whether they are in fact the same ‘thing’.
Kandel studied sea snails and other animals with simple nervous systems in an attempt to explain what memories are: synapses or cells? Kandel stimulated the snails’ sensory neurons directly with electrodes. By a process of elimination, neuron by neuron, he mapped out the entire neural circuit of a simple behavior in the snails (the gill-withdrawal reflex) that changes and learns in response to its environment. Then, by removing parts of the circuit to a petri dish and subjecting the neurons to electric shocks and different chemicals, this changed the three neuron circuit in the snail. Function of the neuron changed with increase in the amount of the neurotransmitter produced by the neuron.
