When registering for this class, a wave of worry ran through me, because I had minimal skill when it came to writing, particularly in the field of formal writing. The high school I attended was academically poor, we never wrote formal papers, just informal book and movie responses. Therefore I was apprehensive about this class. This course was quite intricate, but I attend skills that will aid me for the rest of my academic career. Rhetorical knowledge, critical inquiry, process, and conventions are all concepts I have acquired.
Rough Draft: Even after giving an extensive amount of effort, sometimes a stubborn dilemma appears to be cemented into one’s life; however, as anxiety pushes from a gentle nudge to a vigorous kick, one will find the determination to get the better of the situation. Finally, there is the most subtle form of anxiety, which is the slight discomfort from a minor drawback. Not always noticeable, anxiety is present when there is a snag in the plan. Final Draft: Even after giving an extensive amount of effort, a stubborn dilemma appears to be cemented into one’s life. However, as anxiety escalates from a gentle nudge to a vigorous kick, one will find the determination to get the better of the situation.
I also learned about the end punctuation, the comma, parentheses and quotation marks. I am able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of plagiarism by correctly summarizing, quoting, paraphrasing, citing, and acknowledging the sources through MLA/APA documentation. I was able to organize my thoughts effectively, and pose thoughtful arguments and effectively support my argument with a strong introduction and well-rounded
I believe that completing this course has changed the manner in which I approach writing. For one thing, I now plan out my writing assignments in some way before completing a final draft. The class has also taught me to better “stay on target” when I write. It has taught me that papers must have a clear focus to pursue. It has also taught me to actually “look” at the writing of others rather than just lightly reading over it.
Throughout my education, writing strategies persisted to be a challenge for me. I dreaded writing because I could never find ways to transition my thoughts from my mind to the paper. Ironically, a class that petrified me due to the amount of required writing ended up helping me in numerous ways. English 1301 and my professor prepared me for college and real life by giving me a foundation of effective learning strategies.
I came into my first college writing class feeling prepared thanks to you and your investment in me as a student in your AP Lang class. I developed as a writer more than I ever had in your class, and it definitely helped me in my college writing class this semester. I already knew how important it was to revise and continuously critically think about my writing, as well as the importance of multiple drafts and peer review. My English 110 class this semester was very similar to yours because we also did multiple drafts where I could revise my paper as many times as needed. The big difference was that the focus was on different genres and how to appeal to those, which was something new compared to my high school English courses.
My writing and reading process generally varies depending on its purpose. For class assignments, I mostly do my work in an environment similar to my class room. For example, I would work at a desk and begin with reviewing the assignment or prompt several times before I begin. When it comes to writing, I would often place my prompt at the beginning of my paper and I begin a series of brainstorms with bullet points under. Throughout my working process, I often come back to the top to refer to my prompt and my original ideas to compare my work and review if I am following through with it.
Every student has their own writing process. Writing process ways is the student's way to have the best writing assignments and make who ever read it understand their main idea. In this essay I am going to explain my own writing process for various type. In chapter 4 by Keith Hjortshoj “How Good Writing Gets Written” which talks about how should develops their writing skills and gives them some tips that they should use in their writing process.
With my written essays, I simply revised the essays as I wrote. So, I assert that this course has helped me learn to manage my writing efforts a bit
In triad K, I have been able to reflect on my literacy journey, create amazing study habits, and learn more about rhetoric. In addition, I have learned how I can use rhetoric in everyday life. Although I know I still have not achieved the complex writing, I strive to get to, I still make use of what I already know and just try to build on it. Writing essays such as these and the others we have done in the class have really helped transform me into a better writer. We talked about literacy sponsors and had to write a literacy narrative, where I reflected my growth in writing, and created goals on how I would like to improve.
Skills Writing is a process that involves a purpose. Throughout the semester, I used the four steps of the writing process: pre-writing, drafting, revising, and editing. I believe pre-writing and brainstorming is the most important step because it allowed me to organize my thoughts in an outline.
The comments from my instructor, the online material, my research, the online writing center and comments from other students in the discussion boards have helped me so much to improve my writing skills. In the writing process, the step that I feel I have improved a lot is editing, as I am constantly reading my writings and editing them as I finish them, over and over again before I publish them. The steps in the writing process that I like the most are finding a topic in the Pre-writing step and Drafting. I like having a lot of ideas floating around and think about which idea is the best and the most exciting topic to talk about.
This cannot be done in fifteen minutes. However, the various stages may well involve discussion, research, language study, and a considerable amount of interaction between teacher and students and between students themselves so that when process writing is handled appropriately it stretches across the whole curriculum. There are times when process writing is simply not appropriate, because either classroom time is limited, or because we want students to write quickly as part of a communication game, or when working alone, we want them to compose a letter or brief story on the spot. 1.
Writing has always been an issue but yet interesting subject of mine. As hard as I try and write essays, and papers I just can’t get the hang of writing. But after taking this class, I did learn different writing technique and improved my writing proficiency, material body of formatting, and how to uncovering and properly use sources. Through class exams, essays, and a research paper, I was able to learn new writing skills. Although I have learned a variety of things, my writing still needs improvement.
My Writing Experience In previous courses, my writing skills have been mediocre or just enough to pass the class. Throughout the duration of this course, I have written a variety of papers using different techniques and skills. Previously I would write assuming that the only audience would be my instructor. This course has helped me realize that there are many steps and skills involved with writing a well-organized and easy to comprehend essay.
