In spite of recent events the war continues to rage on and more of our young men are being sent off to fight these wars to hopefully aid in the war effort and crush our enemy. So far over 1300 young men have been flown over to safety as the threat from atomic bombs is an ever present threat to us and our children. But do not fright as with their cooperation this war will be over before you know it and your boys will be right at home on the farm.

Our spies have confirmed the Intel that they are transporting an atomic warhead to a launch site soon and that they may fire on an unknown target sir. I suggest we take immediate action in saboteur operations to stall the delivery of the warhead to the launch site sir.

From the newspaper article we see that the parents of the boys are listening to what the government has to say about the atomic threat and are taking it very seriously as they are scared for their children’s safety. We also see that despite there being a clear warning of a encountering a hurricane in their travels they are still carrying on with the evacuation of the children knowing that it is worth the risk.
The Warning message from one of the spies shows how the threat was very real and fear had been on everyone’s minds from before the novel takes place. This connects to the boys as they knew later on that death on the island was a very real thing and that they may never leave.
