Choosing the “better” story seems like an easy task; however, this idea never crossed my mind until I read Life of Pi. The beginning of the novel promises the writer a story that will make him believe in God. However, once the novel starts we learn that Pi Patel is a believer of Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam. These three religions all offer different stories, but when they come together they allow Pi to survive his journey on the boat for 227 days. While on this journey, Pi is stuck on his raft with a Bengal tiger, an orangutan, and many other animals. Once he makes it to land and is questioned, Pi chooses to change the story to include his mother, a nurse, and other humans to make the story more believable. This plot twist then allows
