Victor read the same three French textbooks over and over again, which mademaking his head hurt. He spent all night practicing his French rather than doing homework for any of his classes. Why did I say I knew how to speak French? Victor thought to himself Her he thought. He decided he had done enough work that night and drifted off to sleep thinking of Teresa. The next day at school, Victor couldn’t wait to for French class. He spent most of his class time daydreaming about Teresa, until, his math teacher handed back his last test. The teacher kept reminding the students to study for this test because it counted forwas fifty percent of their grade. When he had seen Teresa, his troubles seemed to melt away. “Bonjour Victor,” Teresa said as she walked into class and took a seat right next Victor. “What’s wrong? You seem upset,’” she asked him. “Math. When am I ever going to need to know algebra in the real world?” Victor sighedreplied. “I can help you with math. How about after school you could come to my house?, and I’ll help you with math and you can help me with French.?” Teresa suggested. Victor’s face lit up. “That sounds like a great idea, thank you,” he answered. He couldn’t wait for the school day to end. He was going to spend the afternoon with Teresa, and hise face turned pink just thinking about it. Teresa and Victor walked to herTeresa’s house in silence. but Victor could n’ot stop thinking about how he was going to spend so much time with Teresa. When they arrived to Teresa’s house, she asked if they could do the French work first. They walked into the living room and begun taking out their French work. “Tu es beau,” Victor said to Teresa. “What does that mean?” she asked. “You’re beautiful,” Victor
