In the book Samurai's Garden by Gail Tsukiyama, many diseases present themselves and show the reader how they affect each character. Tuberculosis, leprosy, and many mental diseases take a toll on almost every character. One of the main characters, Stephen, suffers from tuberculosis and another main character, Sachi, suffers from leprosy. Along with leprosy, she suffers from depression and self-confidence issues. When one suffers from any outward image altering disease, suicide often offers itself as honorable or a way of freeing their family of the disease or other sins.
As she tells the stories of what life was like at the camp, it seems that even with the deplorable living arrangements, the fighting amongst others, they tried to live as close to a normal life as possible. Her father Ko was separated from them for about a year. After his release from Ft. Lincoln Ko was reunited with his family at Manzanar. His return brought more hardships to what existed

Throughout Samurai's Garden theres been conflict between Japan and China during the World War II era. The violence from Japan has been affecting many lives which include women and children. The leprosy villages in Japan has been isolated from everyone else having them to survive on their own. Their are many characters that dealt with adversity, their tradition, and loneliness but Sachi and Matsu are the only ones that experienced those.
As one of the classic television shows of all time, Gilligan’s Island will forever ask the question, “Mary Ann or Ginger?” Mary Ann Summers, the down-to-Earth farm girl from Kansas, and Ginger Grant, the show-stopping movie star from Hollywood, were two of seven people who became stranded on an uncharted island after embarking on a three hour tour. Mary Ann is short and greatly tanned, and Ginger is tall and has a lighter complexion. They seemed as different as two girls could be. I would say that Ava is, in actuality, an advanced simulation of a person who is conscious. Even though she is a robot, I believe that Ava is conscious because of these three indicators: she is aware of her surroundings, she is aware of other beings, and she is aware of her place among a larger world.
Baba and Amir's foil is shown throughout the novel, but you can already identify many differences at the beginning of the book when they lived in Kabul. Although, they also do have a few similarities. They are similar because they are father and son and share similar characterises. Baba and Amir both grew up wealthy as they are Pashtuns. Amir and Baba both hold hard secrets and live their life filled with guilt.
Perhaps upon first impression, the Bunraku-ningyo of Yaoya Oshichi may be appreciated for its aesthetic beauty or even come across as unsettling, but a trained eye can respect the workmanship placed into the doll itself. Yaoya Oshichi’s own tragic story was ripped straight from the headlines, into various forms of media, during the Edo period. After a fire burned down her home, Oshichi and her family moves into a temple where she meets and falls in love with a temple page. Not before long Oshichi and her family return to the newly built house. Wanting to be reunited with her love, she decides naively, if fire brought them together, fire can bring them together once more and commits arson.

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams is a peculiar story about the universe and aliens. It starts out with Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect on Earth however, Earth soon gets destroyed by aliens and they have to catch a ride on a spaceship. Arthur and Ford experience many adventures together such as arriving the the Heart of Gold. Adams brings up many deeper meanings and questions while using comedy in order to describe his characters. He uses many different techniques to make the reader laugh yet question ideas from the book.

This quote, from Okay for Now wrought by Gary Schmidt, represents that relationships can start at any time over many things. According to the book, many times relationships with people help Doug and many other characters.
Where the Wild Things are by Maurice Sendak is an interesting children’s picture book. The main character is a little boy named Max, who has a wild imagination. He uses all five senses as well as thought and his actions to express his personality as well as how he reacts and interacts with his surroundings. Max’s id, ego and super-ego are greatly shown in this book through the way that the author has portrayed him. Not only is this book a children’s story, but it can also be perceived as a life lesson.

Momo Velia Deviluke is the Third Deviluke Princess, and the youngest of the Deviluke sisters. She comes to earth with her twin sister, Nana, in order to test Rito and his affection for their older sister. Even after the ordeal, the twins decide to stay on earth to avoid their studies. Unlike her sisters, Momo is aware of the feelings of people around her and their (harem) situation. Momo becomes a pivotal character in To Love-Ru Darkness when she comes up with the "Harem Plan", a scheme to get Rito to marry all the girls that are in love with him.
