Richard Taylor and his wife Sarah Strother contributed to America’s evolution, by both serving many battles in the American Revolution and fathering the nation’s twelfth president, Zachary Taylor. The third of six children, Zachary Taylor was born in Virginia, on November 24th, 1784. Shortly after his birth, Taylor’s family moved to Kentucky because of land gifted to Richard for his military services and the family became wealthy. Despite their status, Zachary Taylor received little education and enrolled in military school.
