Zeno of Elea was an important Greek mathematican, he was born in the year of 490 B.C. in southern Italy. Zeno was not a mathematician; he was a philosopher and logician. He spent most of his adult life defending Parmenides teachings. He wrote a book to defend his teacher called the Epicheiremata, which contained his most famous paradoxes. A mathematical paradox is any statement that seems to contradict itself or each other while seeming logical. Now, less than ten survive. Zeno's four most famous paradoxes, which are all incredibly confusing, are the Dichotomy, the Achilles, the Arrow, and the Stadium.
