Although some people think Odysseus is not a hero nevertheless he is because he always did his best to save, help and was loyal to his men he also never gave up on returning back home to Ithaca to be with his wife Penelope and his son
In Heroes, Gods, and Monsters of the Greek Myths by Bernard Evslin, Jealousy is a characteristic that all the gods have. They usually can't contain their jealousy and that leads them to do bad things, like killing or punishing people. One god is actually known for being full of envy, her name is Hera. In the poem called Works and Days, written by an ancient Greek poet Hesiod, a god named Prometheus gives mankind the gift of fire without the consent of Zeus. This infuriates Zeus, which results him to punish Prometheus by inflicting him with eternal pain. Not only did Zeus punish Prometheus, but he also penalized mankind. In Hesiod's poem, it mentions, "The price for the stolen fire will be a gift of evil to charm the hearts of all men as they hug their own doom" (45).
He will survive a deadly storm that the god of god’s, Zeus, throws at him. He is a man that every guy wants to be and everyone woman lusts over. He will get out of any sticky situation with his quick wits. Odysseus is the man that has every trait of Aréte; physical prowess, intelligence, social skills, self-control, courage, and reverence. Odysseus,what comes to mind when you hear that name? I think courage, and bravery. Odysseus states in the book ,“A man who has been through bitter experiences and travelled far enjoys even his sufferings after a time” .This quotes fits really well with him because he went through alot and even when he was in those hard times they are good memerios now. If you were to think about a man with great abilities like being strong, courageous and intelligent, you could think of people you personally or like me, you could think of someone such as Odysseus. Odysseus fits the definition of an epic hero because he is quick thinking, strong and courageous. Odysseus is one quick thinking individual. He has gotten him and his crew out some some sticky situations with his clever plans. One of these plans were how to get away from Polyphemus, a cyclops who was the son of Poseidon.

In The Odyssey, Odysseus was a major hero of the novel. He had both heroic traits and human weaknesses. Odysseus defeated the Cyclops, defeated the suitors that were courting his wife, and overcome other challenges throughout the novel. A special trait that made Odysseus a hero was that he was a courageous
