Your second priority is to acquire weapons. It’s a great advantage to own a gun especially in dire times like these. Not only will it protect you from the zombies, but it will also act as defense against fellow survivors who would do anything to get food and resources. Also have a melee weapon ready; a piece of metal pipe or a pair of kitchen knives should always be handy in case you run out of ammunition. Next, you’ll have to find a way to acquire food. There’s a huge possibility that there are still zombie-free supermarkets nearby, so you better start searching. Canned foods are good, but the packaging might be a little too heavy, especially that you still have to bring them back to your shelter. When planning on bringing water back home, remember that the average active person consumes half a gallon per day for rehydration, and another half a gallon per day for sanitation and cleaning
