It is no secret that Americans generally enjoy fast food and chicken. In fact, each year the average American eats approximately seventy-three and a half pounds of chicken (2011, June 19). So how well do two of the most successful chicken-based fast food restaurants compare in convenience, quality, and variety? A comparison must be made between Chick-fil-a and Zaxby’s to find out. Although Chick-fil-a is the larger fast food restaurant, it has a major problem that inconveniences many customers. Chick-fil-a is closed on Sundays and with one thousand four hundred and thirty restaurants in thirty-seven U.S. states that is a lot of missed business. Zaxby’s is much smaller with only three hundred and seventeen restaurants primarily located in the southeastern United States, so they also miss a lot business for being so secluded. Introduction The restaurant industry in the United States had annual sales of $ 631.8 billion and employs 12.9 million people in 2012. Even in times of recession there is little evidence that this industry has seen a decline especially in its fast food and quick service segment. But with a depressed economy with no immediate upward trend in the near future, majority of the customers indicated that they would either curtail their spending on eating or best maintain its current level which is certainly going to affect the future of many restaurants in the industry.
