The Murder of Amber Hagerman Amber Hagerman was born on November 25, 1986 in Arlington, Texas. On the afternoon of January 13, 1996, Amber Hagerman, 9, and her five-year-old brother, Ricky, rode their bicycles to an abandoned grocery store near their home. Minutes later, Ricky turned to head back home, leaving his sister, who he would never see again.
Jim Kevil, a 78-year-old retiree, stood in his backyard not far away. “I saw Amber riding up and down,” he said later. “She was by herself. I saw this pickup. He pulled up, jumped out and grabbed her. When she screamed, Kevil immediately called the police. Kevil was the only witness to the crime. Kevil described the truck as being dark like black, and the abductor to be white or hispanic.
Police arrived within a minute or two since Kevil had called. Jimmie Whitson, Amber’s grandfather, was on his way to the locale of the former Winn-Dixie store to check on her. He had gotten worried since Rick had returned to the house without Amber at the same time. By the time he arrived, he noticed the cops were there.
Local police were joined by volunteers and the FBI in the

The caller had mentioned that when there is going to be bad weather or a bad accident they get notified, she backed up her case. The idea caught on, and the Amber Alert was born. It began locally as the Dallas Amber Alert. It became a state-wide program and finally went national. Since its start, the Amber Alert is credited with the rescue of more than three hundred missing and abducted children. It now notifies cell phones once it gets into the news and it gets out fast so everyone knows what to look out for. The Amber alert is very helpful and is used
In 1836, the gruesome death of a prostitute encaptivated the public eye and began a newspaper frenzy that centered on a morbid fixation of the life and death of Helen Jewett. Patricia Cline Cohen's The Murder of Helen Jewett pieces together the facts of Helen's life and death in an attempt to describe gender inequality in America by giving a meticulous account of life in the 1830s. (Insert small biography) Around three in the morning on Sunday, April 10, 1836 Rosina Townsend, the madam of the brothel, was spurred from her bed at the south end of Thomas St by a man knocking on the front door.
Many use this alarm not correctly and end up causing others to panic. For example when someone calls 911 it should be for a real serious reason, it is not something you play around with. People that do this may overshadow someone else’s true emergency. Furthermore, a childhood story that was told to my generation was “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” In that particular story the boy tricks the townspeople that there
Marie Delphine LaLaurie tortured innocent slaves due to her family’s murders during the slave uprising of 1811. After her family’s deaths all three of her husband’s mysteriously died or disappeared. Her first husband, Don Ramon De Lopez y Angullo was a high ranking Spanish officer and died on March 26, 1804 mysteriously during a falling out with the king of Spain. Her second husband Jean Blanque was a prominent banker, merchant, lawyer, legislator, and well-known slave trader. They were married for two years before he died unexpectedly reasons as to why are unknown (A Portrait of Cruelty).
Casey Anthony thought to be one of Americas most hated women she gained that title after she was accused of murdering her two year old daughter Caylee Anthony. Main reason behind Casey Anthony’s hate is the fact that she had so much evidence against herself and she was proven not guilty. The evidence pointing that Casey Anthony did murder her daughter lies in the fact that she waited one whole month before filing her daughter as missing. Casey also in that month was found partying instead of looking for her daughter. There was also some witnesses testifying that Casey’s car had an awful smell coming from the trunk.
On July 8, 1981, three men forced entry into a home in Tampa, Florida. The five occupants of the home were threatened and then robbed by one of the assailants that possessed a shotgun. Afterwards, two of the female victims, ages 38 and 12, were forced into the trunk of the car, driven to a nearby wooded area, and raped by two of the assailants while the third remained inside the vehicle. Left tied to trees, they were able to untie themselves and contact the police, similarly to those victims left inside the recently burglarized house. Luckily, the license plate number of the vehicle being driven was able to be identified in an attempted pursuit.
“THE LIZZIE BORDEN CASE” On August 4, 1892, Andrew and Abby Borden were murdered in their home in Fall River, Massachusetts. Lizzie Borden convicted of the murder and arrested on August 11, 1892. It seems obvious that Lizzie committed the crime due to the evidence provided, family problems and, the brutal nature of the murder. Lizzie and her family had problems, which means this could have led Lizzie to murder her parents.
Police began to investigate people who owned a yellow car matching the witness's description. They also were
Many of these questions will be unanswered. The effects of losing a mother, a friend and a helping hand will be everlasting but it also leaves the door open for positivity and her work to continue on. To help prevent these incidents in the future the department and many others should have procedures in place or enforce ones to always call for backup before proceeding with action. If backup doesn’t come in time, tail the suspect and continuously give updates on your location to catch the suspect safely and more efficiently. Following the incident, Clayton’s patrol car was vandalized, adding more negativity to what was already a bad situation.
BRIDGEWATER, Ma. — Another arrest has been made in connection to the death of a South Jersey woman who was set on fire in Massachusetts, 6abc reports. Ovi Cruz is being accused of misleading police, according to prosecutors who say Cruz lied about how well he knew the man wanted for the murder of Ashley Bortner, reports say. In the case of Tara Brown’s murder, various groups of individuals are affected. As well as maintaining principles of fair punishment and deterrence, the criminal justice system has to consider perceptions of the victim’s family (secondary victim), the community’s demand for crime prevention, and the offender’s rights to a fair court hearing. The most likely outcome is imprisonment for Lionel John Patea due to committing an indictable offence. It is important to note that if this was only a case of domestic abuse without murder, it would utilise more time, effort and expenses to come to a resolution. This is due to the different circumstances and degree of abuse that the judge has to assess.
The case was directed by the New Jersey State Police, but it turned into a cooperative effort between the New Jersey State Police, New York City State Police, and the FBI (Whitehead 1). The FBI stands for Federal Bureau of Investigation. “The FBI is an intelligence-driven and threat-focused national security organization with both intelligence and law enforcement responsibilities. Their mission is to protect the American people and uphold the United State Constitution” (FBI
The world was memorized in 2011, when Casey Anthony got off on charges after killing her own 2 year old child. Leading up to the day of the crime, no one could expect Casey to do anything this horrific. So why would she do it? Casey Anthony was born in Warren, Ohio, on March 19, 1986. Casey’s parents , George and Cindy Anthony, described Casey as a happy, outgoing child.
I and my fellow officers at JMPD(James Madison Police Department) were instructed to investigate the murder of Allen Ripley. From scouring the various articles of evidence and witness testimony we are of the firm belief that we have found the perpetrators. Mr. Ripley’s wife Autumn Ripley worked together with his business partner Matthew Piper and murdered Mr. Ripley on the night of July 10th, 2020, at approximately 11:00 P.M. We are sure of this from Witness statements, administered lie detector tests, and testimonies.
The Amber Alert is a public service announcement that has rich history and a deeper meaning than a buzzing or beeping phone. I. According to the Amber Alert government website, the Amber Alert was created in 1996 when Amber
If there's a fire, shooting, lockdown, bomb threat, you want to ensure your safety by calling 911 or even your parents. Most of the times these are just drills, but what if one day it is not. Also if your parents need to contact you. Like for example, if there is a death in your family and then need to reach you quickly, then that phone will be a big help. Another emergency, that can happen that you would need your phone, is that if your at school and you are ready for any kind of sports practice and suddenly it is cancelled, and you find out before school ends, and you need to contact your parent.
