Pre-Paid Preschool
In 2013, President Barack Obama proposed a mandatory preschool education plan for every American four year-old. In response to Obama’s 2013 State of the Union Address, Americans became undecided with the proposition. Americans question, “Should our tax dollars be used for preschool?” The answer is evident, tax dollars should be used to pay for mandatory, government-funded preschool.
According to the Greatschools Staff’s article, 10 Good Reasons Your Child Should Attend Preschool”, parents of preschoolers saw their children’s emotional and social skill develop throughout their preschool year. Children began to construct trusting relationships with teachers and children outside of their families. More importantly, children learn how to work through their emotions, such as anger and frustration with the teacher’s guidance. Teachers encouraged children to work out their problems with one another and mediated when necessary. Then, children were directed to the epiphany that their actions impact others.
