In our sociograms, we have decided on the social network being one that includes all 12 members of the jury,the old man, lady,the boy and the judge himself. This is due to the fact that these are all the members involved in the case against the boy. The three prescribed clusters which we have denoted in the form of three circles respectively are for the witnesses,the accused and the jury. This is due to the fact that in a legal system in the states, a jury panel is a must and the witnesses’ words are evidence to be used against the accused. Hence they form the formal groups defined by the greater system which is the law. Description of conflict & Factors leading to conflict
2.3.1. The identical knife discovered and possibility that the boy lost his knife through a hole in his pocket
The conflict here is about the boy who bought a uniquely carved switchable knife identical to the one used in the murder and claimed that he lost it that night, before coming home to find his father dead. So, the jurors involved in the conflict were conflicting that it is impossible for the knife to fall through the boy’s pocket hole and be picked up by somebody off the street, and went to the boy’s house and stabbed his father while only one juror strongly stood up that it is possible that someone could have stabbed his father with the similar knife.
The important factor which leads the conflict to happen is when the Juror 4 presents the death weapon, “the only one of its kind”. Ultimately, Juror 8 surprises the other jurors by presenting an identical knife he had purchased in a pawn shop two blocks from where the boy lived, shattering the claim that the knife was unique and …show more content…

This would then result in the possibility that the murderer could not have been the boy and that the person he saw walking down the stairs could have been someone
