At last it’s here. You’ve trained your whole life to finally qualify for the Olympics, but then you are told that they are being held in Nazi Germany. The 1936 Olympics were held in Berlin, Germany. In 1936 it was Germany’s turn to host the Olympics in their nation. Recently, Germany was taken over by its new leader Adolf Hitler. The Olympics back then were nothing like the Olympics today. There were many racial and religious issues happening in the nation at that time. Also, there were many famous Olympic athletes at those games. For example, Jesse Owens was very important to those games. Last, the United States considered boycotting the 1936 Olympics for reasons like discrimination all throughout Germany. During the 1936 Olympics, it was not like the Olympics we see today. This was a time when Germany was thriving to be a more powerful nation under their new leadership, Adolf Hitler. In 1936 it was Germany’s turn to host the Olympics so Adolf Hitler ordered a brand new track and field stadium to be built to resemble Germany’s new dominant leader.
