Globalization offered substantial positive change worldwide. It allowed for easier communication, a better understanding of other cultures, and the exchange of goods and ideas, among other advantages. More specifically, however, globalization changed the US economy in several ways. From 1945 to 2000, globalization caused both economic expansion and depression due to varying factors. At first, globalization brought countries together and allowed them to communicate and exchange ideas. This allowed countries to specialize in different areas and trade with one another, fostering economic expansion. Such collaborations included NATO, formed in 1949, and OPEC, established in 1960.
