In the novel Pankration, there were a series of characters that had quite a big influence on Nic all through the story, some of the people changed him for the better and for the worst. Tiso made a big impact by giving Nic friendship when he was in a time of desperation. And Gellius acted like a father figure in some way to Nic through the course of the novel. There were many influential people in the book but some had bigger impacts on other people than most, but these are the ones with the biggest impact on Nic.
There is a conflict over if the 1950’s been the happy days or was it the bad days. There were many new things starting to come out, we had just came out of war and are producing many new things. What was more important? The 1950’s were not the happy days.
Clara Barton Clarissa Harlowe Barton was born on December 25, 1821, in North Oxford, Massachusetts. Her parents were Sarah Stone Barton and Captain Stephen Barton. The 1960s is commonly portrayed as the more chaotic decade because of the Civil rights movement's strong steps toward their goals. Whilst I agree that for many the 50s was a great decade I disagree with the idea of the 1950s being more prosperous and being more unified because for everyone that was not the case. The 1950s created the blueprint for the 60s to be a decade of revolution.
The 1950s were remembered as a time of good life and peace. At the beginning of the 1950s, there were mainly white families living in the suburbs, and they didn't have to worry about the cost of houses or the money they needed to pay the government. However, as the 1950s progressed, there were starting to be problems in the world. Those problems surrounded the suburbs and family life and issues for the people. The 1950s does not deserve its reputation as a time of peaceful conformity.
The culture in Northern America during the 1960’s and 1970’s was very controversial. There were several that were happy with it but several that were extremely unhappy with it. There were several causes for the protests that took place in the United States during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Allen Ginsberg was a prominent figure during the time of counterculture. Ginsberg lived from 1926-1997 and he was a very key individual in all these protests.

Key events across the decade and the world include the beginning of the Korean War and the Vietnam War, the first ever Organ Transplant and the introduction of Coloured TV. Also Political battles centred around communism and capitalism dominated the decade. In the 1950’s there was more leisure time due to an upgrade in household appliances which improved the likelihood of selling entertainment products such as radios and televisions.

Politically, the 1950s were marked by the beginning of the Cold War, which led to increased government spending on military and defense. The era was also characterized by a wave of conservative sentiment, reflected in the election of President Dwight D. Eisenhower and the rise of suburbanization. Socially, the 1950s saw a rise in consumerism and a growing middle class, leading to a proliferation of new consumer goods and the development of a more materialistic culture.

Also according to Webster's dictionary social repression is is the act of controlling, subduing or suppressing people, groups and larger social aggregations by interpersonal means. I agree to the greater extent that during the 1950’s were a time of conformity and social repression. In American life housing, genders and culture get an impact on conformity and social repression.
The Berlin Wall and Great Depression were over and the new era came upon to spark the beginning of the 1950’s. The typical focus of this era was to protect families individually and preserve domesticity, and hold certain standards too succeed in life. To include, that in 1950’s, there was much improvement when it came to working and jobs. There were more white collar jobs in the office and other administrative settings such as: advertising, marketing, etc. After the Cold War, there was a vast Economic boom, people were earning money and putting money in the banks more than ever before.
As World War II came to an end, the United States entered the 50s. This decade became a major influential time that brought many cultural and societal changes. Categories such as the economy, where a boom in new products increased, the technology world which incorporated new medicines and computers, entertainment when the television became popular and the overall lifestyles that Americans adapted to. All of these topics reshaped and created several advancements throughout society during the 1950s.
The 1960’s were a good time in America because it did shape our generation to be where it is today. Even though there were good aspects that came with it, bad aspects still had to follow. The 1960s was the year of getting to know yourself, self acceptance, self righteousness, and self indulgence. During this time there was a lot of violence going on because people wanted to fight for what they believed in. The rights in the constitution that were being promised to the people were never being upheld.

What was life like back at home during war time in 1940? Although there was a war going on, people on the homefront did their best to live a normal life, as well as help with the war. Many people had family in the war so trying to be positive and go on with their life was not the easiest thing to do. However, everyday things such as music and other entertainments help them get through this rough time. The 1940´s were full of a variety of entertainment such as music, theatre, and recreation.
