What provokes the actions and logic of society's youth? Is it their role models? What if their role model is the government? The Kids in the novel 1984 were raised by their governments teaching rather their own parents ruling. A perfect example of the children in the society during the book is the Parsons children. Since they have not created their own opinions on the government‘s communist ways they are easily influenced by government's rubbish instilled into their minds. As Winston walks into the Parsons home to help repair a pipe he is put through the interrogations of the Parsons oldest son and his little sister. “ you're a traitor! Yelled the boy. You're a thought criminal! You're a Eurasian in spy! I'll shoot you, I'll vaporize you, I'll send you to the salt mines!” The oldest boy actions seem very violent but he feels it is necessary to accuse anyone because of the idea contributed by big brother that kids should spy on adults. The boy continues to pester Winston and as he was leaving the boy stuck Winston with pullet in the back of the neck. This irrational event from the little brat was followed by him shouting “Goldstein” (Orwell 24) The accusation of calling Winston the parties biggest enemies name explains how because the Parson children where influence at a young age by the violent things done to traders. During Winston's visit to the Parsons house The kids reflected their anger towards the mother by yelling “we want to see the hanging! We want to see the hanging!” (Orwell 24) Such violent actions such as hanging was encouraged for children like the Parsons to see because it was the hanging of an enemy of the party.
