The 1985 NBA Lottery Draft was a highly anticipated draft featuring a “once in a decade” talent, Patrick Ewing. New York was a struggling franchise at the time and on a business stand point, this was not a good look. New York is one of the greatest cities in America and to not boast a great basketball team and a star player at Madison Square Garden was a great shame. There are many other drafts that had people and other owners questioning the integrity of the league.Going through recent NBA drafts, a lot of them can be seen as rigged according to Mike Korzemba. The 2012 NBA draft that featured one the most promising talent in a while, Anthony Davis of University of Kentucky, was believed to be rigged. The New Orleans Hornets were looking for a new owner that would purchase the franchise. However the franchise was not good and had no super stars. It was also not a marketable location for a NBA team. The only way that the Hornets would appeal to potential buyers was if they landed Anthony Davis. When the draft lottery came around the New Orleans Hornets landed the number one pick and were granted the rights to draft Anthony Davis. The NBA was able to sell the Hornets to another owner after they landed Anthony Davis and the fans responded with anger. It was too suspicious that the New Orleans Hornets got to land one of the most promising young talent in league history as soon as they needed to sell the franchise. The timing was too perfect.
