This was where I first developed my multitasking skills to oversee and coordinate four clinical research studies. My strong communication and interpersonal skills enabled me to meet crucial deadlines and work efficiently with physicians, nurses, pharmaceutical sponsors, and study monitors. I strive not only to be a great employee and team player but also to serve and positively impact my community, especially the medically underserved. For more than five years, I have volunteered over 1,000 hours, and most recently, I serve through the Lestonnac Free Clinic and Access OC organization as a Spanish interpreter. As a bilingual Spanish-speaking nurse, I hope to help my community by breaking down the language barrier between patients and the healthcare team in order to ensure the accurate continuity of care.

Dr. Ann and class, Health care leaders consider systems thinking to be important in creating an influential and successful healthcare organization as working in silos is no longer going to serve the technologically connected health care world (Delaveris, 2014). Leaders have to have a vision of bigger picture and joining the smaller jig saw puzzle pieces together. Various departments are interconnected and interdependent on each other as compare to before. Various stakeholders have to be involved and system thinking has to be incorporated in day-to-day routine of doing things to create a sustainable health care system.
I joined the board of directors in 2nd quarter of 2014. Since joining the organization I have served on various committees ranging from the development committee to our quality improvement committee. I currently serve as a member of the IT task force and Chair of the operations committee. As a member of the IT task force I introduced a strategic proposal to the outgoing CEO to transform Mercy’s IT infrastructure to a cloud based environment. If I join Mercy as CEO, I will move forward with plans to implement DaS and IaS in an effort to reduce annual OPEX costs associated with IT hardware and software.
Through becoming a nurse I aspire to take my education in medicine and delegate my efforts to not only improving the medical status of my patients but also to improve the mental well being of them as well. My experience growing into a world where prime physical health was not an option, the opportunity to see how a staff of passionate nurses can contribute to the mental stability and growth of a patient was an honor and inspiration that drives my passion for this career choice. Also, over the last few years I have grown a particular interest in medical research and would love to take his passion with me to expand my interest and contribute to the extensive research program at
His role as an oncologist has profoundly influenced the manner in which I plan to practice medicine in the future: with respect, compassion, and empathy for my patients. It was my observation of his interactions with cancer surviving patients that first inspired me to pursue medicine. These interactions inspired me not only to embark on a profession where I could serve others, but also make a difference in the lives of others. I believe I can make the biggest impact in the lives of my future patients by combining my passion for the clinic and science as a physician-scientist. Though I am early in my medical journey, and am willing to keep an open mind, it is only natural that I yearn to pursue a profession related to oncology.
I am an experienced hardworking, reliable and motivated Senior Nurse. I lead by example and thrive on challenges. In becoming one, I hope to accomplish many things. I want to be able to utilize the skills and knowledge that I have developed and apply them to the best of my ability in the care of my patients. It has been a long journey since I started my nursing education becoming a CNA, nurse assistant, then a practical nurse LPN. Continuing with my education I became a registered nurse (RN) and now I am finishing my Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
Making a difference I started my health care career as a nursing assistant at the young age of 16 years-old perusing the dream of one day becoming a nurse. At that time, I really had no idea what I was getting myself into and what it meant to be in the health care. I have been able to touch and impact so many different people’s lives throughout the last 6 years from patients and residents to their family members. Sometimes not even realizing that I was changing someone’s life. Although I’ve helped hundreds of people there is one person that will I will always remember.
