2016 Hillary Clinton Debate Essay

The 2016 Presidential debate with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, sparked an outbreak of tweets, using the hashtag #trumpwon and #hillarywon. I have selected 50 consecutive tweets from each candidate and will analyze below if Twitter users, understood what each candidate was saying, if there were any misunderstandings, and what tweeters thought about their style of communication.

First, the goal of Hillary Clinton, in the presidential debate was to inform voters about her policy ideas. After, the debate there were several twitter users who made tweets that supported some of the major topics that she discussed. “What's not to like about raising the minimum wage, paid family leave, profit sharing, and pre-school for all? #HillaryWon #ImWithHer” …show more content…

“Presidential Debate: Trump Held Back on Bill Clinton's 'Transgressions' Because Chelsea Was 'In the Room' #TrumpWon” (NewshubIreland, 2016). I do not think the goal of Trump during the debate, was to bash Hillary Clinton's, family and make more allegations about Bill Clinton. I do not think the reasoning he did not keep mentioning Bill Clintons transgressions was because Chelsea was in the room, but because it did not pertain to the debate, and was not necessary, and did not make Clinton a weaker candidate.

I think many supporters agreed with Donald Trump’s style of communication one made the argument “Trump's tone and force in his voice is telling me his internal polls are telling him he did tremendous. #TrumpWon & we will keep donating” (cciemaga, 2016). It is important as a candidate, that during the times you are on television, you can communicate direct and effectively to the voter “Another reason #TrumpWon!
