Topic 2- Valley Fair Calling all daredevils! Valley Fair is an exhilarating yet fun amusement park which is loaded with nerve racking rides and even a ginormous waterpark! Some awesome rides you can go on is the Corkscrew, the Excalibur, and the High Roller. Maybe after the rides you just want to chill. In the waterpark there is a lazy river in which all you do is lay on a tube and go in circles.
Freedom Summer, or the Mississippi Summer Project, was a volunteer campaign launched in June 1964 to attempt to register as many African-American voters as possible in Mississippi, which had historically excluded most blacks from voting. The project also set up dozens of Freedom Schools throughout Mississippi to aid the local black population. The projects leadership and funding came from the SNCC and COFO, along with hundreds of white college students in the north. In 1963, the SNCC organized a mock vote for blacks, which gave them a chance to prove they were capable of understanding politics. The civil rights activists from both organizations and the white volunteers from the north faced many challenges during the campaign.
The Puente Movement and Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund Civil and Migrant Rights Crusades Arizona is home to many civil, human and migrant rights groups and advocates. The Phoenix based Puente Movement is one such organization. The movement advocates for migrant justice by empowering and educating communities to enable them defend their families and enhance their quality of life. The organization’s operating framework is built on the foundation of “Closed Fist, Open Hand strategy”. The Closed Fist strategy infers to fighting enforcement actions that criminalize people, though racial profiling, detention, Police-ICE collaboration and deportation.
Of my many volunteer and paid extra-curricular activities, the most important to me is the National Art Honor Society, which extends artistic activities to my community. We organize two school events: the Festival of Trees and the Talent Competition. The Festival of Trees is an event when every school club can choose to donate and decorate a tree that we set up. All of the money raised goes to an organization of our choice. For the last 4 years, we have donated to Street Grace, which benefits the fight against human trafficking, especially in the Metro Atlanta area.
National Junior Honor Society Essay Being a member of National Junior Honor Society interests me in a number of ways. I believe I excel in all five criteria of NJHS: academics, leadership, service, citizenship, and character, and being a part of this national organization will help me improve much more in each of the categories. I am also interested knowing that having membership in NJHS will help my future career and bring a lasting impression to many people. Scholarship is important in people’s lives; it both helps their futures and encourages them to do more work academic related. I have succeeded in many tasks academically.
The freedom summer, also known as the Mississippi Summer project, was the nonviolent attempt for a voter registration drive organized by a series of civil rights organizations, those including Congress on Racial Equality (CORE), the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). The main focus of this project was, as mention earlier, the voter registration drive, which intended to gather as many colored Mississippians to join the electoral register. For many years India struggled greatly for their independence. The three major events in the Indian fight against British rule were: the Golden Temple Massacre, the Salt March, and the homespun movement. During the Temple Massacre British and Gurkha troops killed at least 379 unarmed Indians meeting at the Jallianwala Bagh, to discuss nonviolent resistance and protest. However, the British had passed a law that said they were forbidden from encouraging and having meetings about nonviolent protests. The Salt March, which took place in India, was an act of civil disobedience.
The Italian peninsula was politically fragmented and divided, with no strong central government. This division made it difficult for Italy to compete on the international stage, and left it vulnerable to foreign interference and aggression. Italian unification became a pressing issue in the mid-19th century, as the country faced internal turmoil and external threats (Pearson, 22.3). The Italian unification movement was driven by a coalition of liberal and socialist political groups, who sought to create a unified Italian state based on democratic principles.
A sensitive society has its difficulties for people to even speak out against the issue of bullying, without being interpreted a different way than its original meaning. Bullying and harassment have been a noticeable problem among students in schools worldwide, and still social acceptance and acknowledgment is a continuous issue. Teens are often picked on because of their sexual orientation/preference, appearances, and many other physical or mental factors. One of the main reasons that bullying and harassment is so prevalent among the teen- aged group is because it is so easy for that age group to succumb to competitions within the group as to whom is the coolest. The history of African- Americans is the part of the history of America which focuses on the history of particular ethnic group in the United States of America. The term African- American was created and made popular in 1960s by Malcolm X, one of the leaders of African- American Movements in the United States of America. The history of the Negro nation has its beginning in the 17th century, when the first black people came to the American colonies as slaves.
In 1919, Benito Mussolini described fascism as “A movement that would strike against the backwardness of the right and the destructiveness of the left.” That “Fascism sitting on the right, could also have sat on the mountain of the center… These words in any case do not have a fixed and unchanged: they do have a variable subject to location, time and spirit. We don’t give a damn about these empty terminologies and we despise those who are terrorized by these words.” Fascism came into prominence in the early 20th-century Europe. It originated in Italy during World War I.
Where would everyone be if there weren 't Black Rights movements. The Black Rights movements changed the way most Americans thought about race interactions. If these important changes hadn 't occurred, the world would be would be in even a worst condition than it already is. There would still be segregation in restaurants and on the bus. Most black and white children would be going to different schools and colleges.
Have you ever heard the saying that Fascism and Communism are two sides of the same coin? These ideologies flourished during the first half of the 20th century and influenced several European states which followed the two ideologies. Fascism was imposed in order to promote powerful and permanent nationalism within a totalitarian state led by a dictator which is ready to engage in conflict internally and with its neighbors. The doctrine of Fascism was drafted in 1919 by Giovanni Gentile and adopted by Mussolini (Mussolini is considered the founder of fascism). Gentile stated, “Everything for the state; nothing against the state” (Heywood, Politics 48).
People thought that the north star was the brightest star in the universe. When we had slavery the slaves would follow the north star which was quite noticeable, considering people thought it was the brightest. Although, people may have gotten the North Star confused with other stars, people still believed it was the brightest. People believed that the north star was the brightest star because they got it confused with the dog star, (Alpha Canis Majoris). Stars have different magnitudes, so if the north star had a magnitude of below -1 it would be brightest then a star with a magnitude of above 0.
