Johnson County, nestled between the Arkansas River and the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in Northwest Arkansas, is a quiet and sparsely populated region known largely for its scenic vistas and peaches. However, the county has a history of violence and hardship. Clarksville, the county seat of Johnson County, is a sleepy and peaceful city, best known for the annual Peach Festival. But, in the 1870s the city was known nationally as “Bloody Clarksville” because of the numerous outlaws, gunfights, and hangings.
It can be hard in Texas sometimes to get into the spirit of autumn in late September; as the rest of the country gets cold fronts and starts eating soup we are still rockin’ the high 80s and swimming on the weekends. Luckily, we can kind of have our pumpkin cake and eat it too by relishing the seasonable weather outdoors and appreciating all the marvelous things that fall has to offer! With the perfect Canton TX lodging, a late September visit to East Texas is bursting with family friendly activities around the whole area. What better way to get into the fall spirit than with a state fair? The East Texas State Fair begins September 25th.
Valley forge was a winter camp for for soldiers to train. But the conditions at the camp were horrible with bad housing, food, weather, and clothing. Many quit due to those harsh conditions. If I were at Valley Forge I would have definitely quit. 50% of the soldier got diseases and 1,800 to 2,500 died.
Valley Forge: Should I re-enlist? The question all soldiers at Valley Forge asked themselves was will I re-enlist? I decided I was going to re-enlist why would I not re-enlist and not let all people whom I’m fighting lose their freedom from a stupid decision I made. Valley Forge sadly was the ugly duck compared to where the Red Coats were staying.
The Iowa State Fair is the most influential events throughout the state of Iowa during the month of August. This is a place where one can go to experience shows, art, food, and see livestock from all around the country. Most people however, go to this fair simply to have fun. On my visit to the Iowa State Fair in the previous summer, tasting all of the different foods, quality of the rides and the positive attitude from the carnival workers highly encourages me to come back year after year.

Freedom Summer, or the Mississippi Summer Project, was a volunteer campaign launched in June 1964 to attempt to register as many African-American voters as possible in Mississippi, which had historically excluded most blacks from voting. The project also set up dozens of Freedom Schools throughout Mississippi to aid the local black population. The projects leadership and funding came from the SNCC and COFO, along with hundreds of white college students in the north. In 1963, the SNCC organized a mock vote for blacks, which gave them a chance to prove they were capable of understanding politics. The civil rights activists from both organizations and the white volunteers from the north faced many challenges during the campaign.
Reston, Virginia: Gateway to Excitement I prefer to live in Reston, Virginia, rather than Sterling, Virginia, because I can ride the metro. There are two stores like Banana Republic and BeBe, where I like to go to shop. One of the reasons I want to live in Reston is because there are attractions like ice skating and a water fountain. It is open to the public every season and is beautiful.
The time had come for our annual band trip. The band was on its way to encounter many fun attractions. The event I was most ecstatic for was Six Flags! The day we visited Six Flags I walked around with five of my friends and my girlfriend. We spent the whole day riding the park’s fantastic rides.
Imagine gazing at dozens of people riding a roller coaster, and debating whether or not you should take a ride. Imagine stepping into the line that leads to the first roller coaster you’ve ever ridden. Today was the day, that I would ride my first roller coaster ever. On a bright sunny day in June, I was at Adventureland with my aunt and uncle. The smells of sugar and dough filled my nose as we strolled past the food carts.
My sister had gone on roller coasters before, so she perceived what to expect, as she had gone on Hades 360 about two or three times before we went on it. A short time later, after glancing, at the picture we left and my mother had inquired me to portray the experience of going on my first real roller coaster. I would be obligated to announce it was exciting, but frightening it definitely made my adrenaline start pumping, something I would do again, but not that ride again right away. I would need to build my way up to that point again, so we were bound to check out the rest of the roller coasters in order of smallest to largest or least to most terrifying it would go in the order of Pegasus, Zeus, Cyclops and lastly, Hades
I silently cheered to myself, and went onto my first ride in Lagoon and my first ever roller coaster ride in my life. I don’t remember the name, but it was right next to the pool area. Since this was my first time going on a roller coaster, I felt butterflies in my stomach, again. Ashleyn (Antonella’s little sister) told me to not be afraid. I nodded my head as Ashleyn and I went on.
