" I think that this quote is saying that we need to be able to handle our own issues and learn about ourselves before we can deal with others. Another step I took was have all of my family members look at my project and paper to give me their input on what they like and what I need to change. I also looked up little things that I thought
“Spend a little more time trying to make something of yourself and a little less time trying to impress people.” – The Breakfast Club This is only one of the well-loved quotes from director John Hughes’s 1985 classic “The Breakfast Club”. It’s a film that follows a story where five different teenagers have been sentenced to a Saturday in detention. The five main characters represent typical stereotypes in a high school environment. Coming into detention, they are expected to write an essay about “who they think they are”; but during this film, we come to see that each character has a deeper struggle than what can be seen during school.
My Thoughts: This quote was in regards to Dr. Rank’s therapy sessions with Nin and her realization of this huge experience with fixing herself inside. Nin speaks of strengthening her “creative will” or how she refers to it her “stubbornness” and how this exercise from Dr. Rank shifted to changing her personal life and the after effects were explosive. I found this quote to be enlightening and life changing. In order to live your own individual version of the good life I think you have to start from within and repair yourself before moving on. Everything else will fall into place
I think it is logical to keep learning. I also think it is logical to keep trying new things. I think it also establishes ethos because most people who try new things are better than they used to be. If we keep learning we can be better than we used to be too. Ethos shows the credibility that this quote
Knowing that I should never stop believing in myself has a been an excellent mindset to keep during middle school.
In this quote, William Shakespeare is portraying the importance of self trueness. Over everything else, people should only be true to themselves. Today, it is very common for people to try and impress others by changing their own ethics. If a person has to change the way they act to make someone like them, that person should not be around those types of individuals. Only one person can really make himself or herself happy, and that is their own self.
Applying this quote to my own life would mean that those around me will never see me as a changed person but will only see me grow into a more complete version of
“Do not compare yourself to others. If you do so, you are insulting yourself.”. “If you win, you need not have to explain... If you lose, you should not be there to explain!”. “If you want to shine like sun, first you have to burn like it.”.
In the novel, A Lesson Before Dying written by Ernest J.Gaines takes place in a small town located in Louisiana in the 1940s. The most important lesson learned in the novel is to fight for yourself and what you believe and also to never give up . In the novel lesson before dying lesson is proved through this characters; Grant, Jefferson, and Emma. Grant is an example of never give up changes still happens. Grant is an elementary school teacher in his hometown Louisiana .
As an individual, there is only one me. I try not to follow anyones example but my own. When someone tells me that I can’t do something I will work harder than ever to prove they are wrong. When I say that I am going to do something, I will do anything and everything I possibly can to get it done. Not once have I thought that I was unequal to the next person.
What this has taught me is not to be a follower or a conformer. To be self reliant is to basically be a leader. You think for yourself and do not follow. “Your conformity
“The task ahead of you is never as great as the strength within you”. I live by these quotes each day which shapes up of who I am. If I start something I must always finish and give it my all, whether it’s on the field and off the field. To give one-hundred percent in a game and in the classroom, that winners never quit, and quitters never win. Whether I win or lose, as long as I gave it my all, then that’s all that matters.
Education and creativity is one of my big factors of growth. Its very important to me to have an education because that’s how you have knowledge, without knowledge no one can have an education to give a point of view in life. ”Without growth and self success, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning. This quote explains, that education affect lives, whether it’s physically or mentally. The goals in my 8th grade year are graduating the year with high honor roll, making my family/peers proud, and setting a good example to others.
When I received my class rank at the start of sophomore year, I told my father “11th is decent, but I can do better.” When junior year came, and I received the updated numbers, I said the same about being 4th, "I can do better". Here I am, 3rd in the class, battling through my senior year, and still pushing myself to do better. Pushing MYSELF. My determination to improve doesn 't stem from my parents, my coaches, my teammates or ANYONE demanding me to, but rather because I know that I am capable.
Gentrification is a problem that has taken place in many major cities across the country, and is an even bigger problem today. As gentrification becomes more common, it has become more controversial, too. Gentrification is the process in which urban neighborhoods or cities get rebuilt or renovated, resulting in increased property values and eviction of lower-income families and small businesses. Gentrification normally takes place in bigger cities like D.C, Boston, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Nashville, and Baltimore. The purpose of the process is to improve and upgrade cities to make them more presentable and efficient.
