In recent discussions of technology, a controversial issue has been whether technology has changed the way we live. On one hand, some writers believe that technology has changed the way we live for the better. On the contrary, the other writers think that technology has changed the way we live for the worse. This is not to say that either viewpoint is wrong, but that they both offer helpful insights into the views of whether technology has changed the way we live. Authors, Nicholas Carr and Jenna Wortham believe that technology has changed the way in which we live for the better while Megan Pittelko and Stephanie Bernaba believe that technology has changed the way in which we live for the worse.

In the article "7 Ways Technology Has Made Our Lives Worse", Megan Pittelko views how people these days cannot have conversations in real life anymore due to people being on their cell phones. According to Pittelko, "Someone is bound to be on their phone, either texting or scrolling through their Twitter feed, instead of actually listening to what the other person is saying". In this quote, Pittelko states her opinion that with this new age of technology people seem too busy on their phones even to have a conversation.
