72 Hours in The Dark
We are living in a world where technology is our everything. We use it everyday for hours on end, it’s how we communicate, get our knowledge and figure our way around town. Schools rely on it to get their work through and our offices rely on it to communicate and get our jobs done. Honestly our society can’t live without it. Hi i’m Payson. My mom works for the government and is giving me a little insight about what is about to happen with our government and the society. I can’t tell anyone what is about to happen so I decided to write it down instead. So here it is, the government is about to take away technology/social media of 72 hours (crazy right?). Their reasoning for this is that they believe technology is starting to take over; watching the social media platform for months they’ve decided it’s about time for a technology cleanse. It’s the last day of technology being turned off. People have adapted and they are content without technology. I have been walking around and going to populated places. All I can say I that it was nice seeing people without their phones, their heads always were looking down and then not running into people because they were paying attention to their phones. People were actually walking around and having genuine conversations and smiling and looked happy.
The government had just announced the shutdown has been lifted and everyone can now go back to using technology. I wonder how this has affected people? For me, I realized I don’t need technology to entertain myself or make me happy. So tomorrow I’m going to go back to see how people are reacting.
So today I went out and saw an actual difference. People weren’t on their phones, they were actually walking around without their phones even though they had full access, they weren’t using their phones. When I was walking around the outside mall this girl approached me.
