Dirk Werner Nowitzki is a German professional basketball player of the National Basketball Association and member of the team Dallas Mavericks. Nowitzki was chosen as ninth pick in the 1998 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and suddenly traded to the Mavericks where he never left. Talking about greatest power forwards of all-times, 7ft Nowitzki is one of the conversation.
In his early years, Nowitzki was born in Wurzburg, Germany. Athletic family is where he came from. His father JorgWener represented Germany at the international level as a ball handler. His mother Helga Nowitzki was a professional basketball player and his older sister Silke Nowitzki was a local champion in track in field which also became a basketball player. His sister now works for the NBA international tv.
At his young age, Nowitzki was very tall; he stood above his friends by a foot or more. Most of the time he played handball and tennis but, soon turned to basketball when he got tired of being mocked as “freak”. He then joined the DJK Wurzburg, a basketball club in Germany. After the long months of training, Geschwinder saw enough of Nowitzki’s talent and asked “You must now decide whether you want to play against the best in the world or just stay a local hero in Germany. If you choose the latter, we will stop training immediately, because nobody can prevent that anymore. But if you want to play against the best, we have to train on a daily basis.” After days of deciding, Nowitzki agreed to join the full-time training schedule, choosing the way to his successful international
