Throughout high school I have been very involved in my choir program. Music has always inspired and intrigued me. I decided to audition for Colorado All-state choir my junior year. I had to learn a solo and practice many other aspects of being a well-rounded vocalist. When I auditioned I was very nervous but it was nothing compared to the pain I felt of not making it two months later.
My passion for music is why marching band means so much to me. Because practice doesn’t feel like practicing, I’m thankful I’m able to better myself in what I love and have the opportunity to be apart of this
Transitioning from middle school band to high school band was a major jump because of all the time involved, but it was such a great transition. Since my freshman year I have always done all I can to be my absolute best in this program. I never slacked off on practice unless I had another event I had to attend. Every summer we have band camp that consists of 8 hours a day working our hardest to get the season started. Once school starts the color guard had three hour practices three times a week, last year it was only two, and now we only have practice one day a week because of the effort we all put in at band camp this year.
Throughout my whole life, the California Academy of Sciences has served as a source of inspiration. I really appreciate how the Academy and its staff are extremely dedicated to science and try their absolute best to help educate and motivate the public. I also appreciate that the Academy frequently updates its exhibits to bring in fresh scientific material to keep the public interested. The Academy has also fueled my interest in science from a young age. I used to go to the old Academy in Golden Gate Park before it was renovated and I was fascinated by the dinosaur exhibits that were displayed.
As a result I began to lead the band along side with my other drum major while a replacement director was being searched for. In college the determination and hope that I now hold in myself will without a doubt positively impact who I am not only as
Finally was band. I may have fell at a competition but we don't talk about that. I went through this routine day in and day out, every day, all day, for my entire junior year. But there was one day that was different. Tuesday, I stayed at school until 3 in the afternoon, and headed up to what the school calls
At the end of the year for auditions, I decided to try out for Symphonic band, the top band in our school. Because I was in one of the last bands, a lot of people told me this would be very difficult to do. When the results came in I found out I had made symphonic. I was very proud of myself with how much I had improved within just a year. I even got the Academic Excellence for Concert 2 band award at the end of the 2013-2014 school year.
Joining band had an immense and almost immediate impact on my life. Before being in band I had never had a talent that I felt completely confident in. I enjoyed practicing and spent many hours trying to improve my musical ability. In
English 102 Reflection During the course of English 102, I took this year of the spring semester. I have accomplished a variety of goals I once thought were impossible. I have not only grown as a writer and a student but as an individual as well. I feel that through my experience of this English course, I have achieved knowledge and self-confidence to step out into the real world.
This summer was much less exciting than I anticipated. However, I believe it was an important transition from the past to the present. I visited my aunt and uncle at their quaint home in rural Vermont, as I had not been in many years. Since a large portion of my childhood memories were made there, it was refreshing to see everything through more mature eyes. It felt like an eternity was spent there, when in reality it was only a long weekend.
Since I started working in Gateway High School two years ago, my view of changes has been limited. As a teacher, I was, most of my time, enclosed within my classroom. However, since I started the internship for the National Louis University Ed. S. in Educational Leadership, I have seen how the school is being slowly but steadily transformed from a violent school, with lots of discrimination towards a safe and inclusive environment.
In elementary school, I had no interest in learning and only did what was necessary to be average. I would day dream often and now looking back on it I feel like it was because of a lack of a creative outlet in my life. Joining band helped and after a year or so it taught me responsibility, teamwork and self-discipline. It was different from anything I had ever experienced before; even being a member of the basketball team for three years was no comparison to this. The realization of my profession came in the fall of 1997 when I joined the Coosa High School Marching Band.
At a young age, I constantly wanted to express myself through music. I always found a way to incorporate music into my daily life, whether it be by blasting my favorite music, creating my own funky songs, or even having the opportunity to participate in my elementary school choir. My love for music actually took flight after I had decided to join my elementary school choir, however, in my opinion, it is not the most transformative moment in my life. After elementary
I have learned how to read musical pieces, how to play different piano-like instruments, and how to better organize my thoughts and critical thinking. I am a sophomore in high school and have been for a while now. That makes the experience of me being in band a time period of one to two years. Band has changed me for the better, whether it be me learning how to navigate myself through life or music, it has been there for me for a long time now. Without band and music, I do not know who I would be.
English 2 is a class that is really different than the writing class I took before. In my previous writing class, the professor will give us really detailed prompt and explanation to guide us through our essay. But in English 2 is different, the professor did give us the prompt and explanation. However, beside these elements, the professor tend to let us do our own work. In the beginning I thought this is a little bit challenging because everything was so vague, and I feel like I am walking in the fog due to the lack of explanation and unclear directions.
