What marching band means to me I have a bracelet I wear all the time. It says on it ‘music for all.’ That is what keeps me going. Music holds a special place my heart, it has been with me through everything. When I see these bands that get smaller every year, I think of that saying. When they go out there to march their show, their dedication speaks louder than anything. Anyone that can march a show at a football game, knowing almost of the people have already tuned you out, knows that it’s not about how amount of people to support you. It’s about the amount of support you get from the people that are there. Plenty of times I go out on the field knowing I’m going to look out in the stands and not see anyone there for me. I’ve learned that my drive for music is not based on that. I give everything I’ve got to my musical performance because it has given me everything. Everytime I go out on a field and play a show it tells a different story each time. And each time I am able to feel a sense of purpose. Music is about expression for people that don’t get the chance to show it. For the people that know how it feels to be heard but never listened to. And for every kid that walks through the hallway feeling completely alone in the same blur of people you are looked over everyday. For the kids that knows how it feels to be the slowest in the class because no matter how hard or how long you study, you end up with a failing grade. Find your passion what you love the most. My passion for music is why marching band means so much to me. Because practice doesn’t feel like practicing, I’m thankful I’m able to better myself in what I love and have the opportunity to be apart of this
