She and her sisters became martyrs unintentionally. They became symbols of what it means to stand up to oppression, giving hope to those left behind. They showed the women of their era that it is not only men who are brave revolutionaries. The importance of sacrifice is a main theme of Julia Alvarez’
Music carries each and every one of us to a new awareness. It can reach to the innermost part of an individual. Music can envelope our emotions from tears all the way to our joy. It captivates and motivates. As I attended a concert on Saturday, November 7, 2015, Lynyrd Skynyrd performed with power and feeling to their audience.
Everything I do revolves around my music. I have been around music all my life, whether it was listening to it or playing it. I’m very passionate about music and I love playing an instrument. The instrument
Music can bring the brightest of joys that keeps us moving through our dull and boring lives. An example of this joy is Ishmael Beah’s life as a boy soldier in his book A Long Way Gone. As he tells you his story, he tells of his dance group with his friends, the times he heard music in the middle of war, and how music saved him from the madness that brewed within him. Music has the unique ability to create peace in a person’s life despite the difficulties surrounding them, and to bring a constant reminder of who they are as a person.
By just turning on a song that you like can put you in your own world where no one criticizes you or judges you for being you. Music is an escape from any problem in society and it is meant for everyone. “Music is just something that helps me escape and be totally free from everything.”-David Schmitt. This quote shows the true meaning of music.
In 2016 our youth and society falls victim to the music industry and its impact on how we dress, dance and act. Music is a catalyst to allow others a glimpse into our minds. Rather you write a symphony or an R&B song the music we compose is a piece of ourselves. Through the power of music we change the world and people around us, much like the musicians before our
Music is a very recent thing that has changed my life. I have always had an interest for music, since I was young I would dream of playing the Alto Saxophone. My dream became a reality in Sixth Grade when I was able to pick up and learn an instrument. I ended up choosing the Tenor Saxophone because of its dark full sound. I progressed very quickly taking lessons from Jill Marasa, band director at Costa Catholic Academy, later that year I bought a Flute, and Clarinet.
III. Finally, music offers many advantages to those who listen. A. Medically, certain music can help significantly in healing the mind and the body. 1. Music therapists are professionals trained to use music and/or musical instruments to promote overall health and well-being in their patients (“Positive & Negative…,” 2017).
Why is Music Important? Did you know that music making is part of what makes humans human? Every culture makes music. Not only that, every past culture has made music too.
The importance of music is unspoken because everyone has their own reason to appreciate it. “Have some composure and where is your posture?” This song excerpt is very relatable to any kid because it is basically saying that you’re supposed to be composed and perfect, but you’re actually not. In this particular song, the meaning behind this lyric is that a woman was having a wedding and she’s supposed to be perfect and composed, but instead she shoots her friend.
“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything” (Plato). If my childhood was filled with anything: it was imagination. From my earliest memories of my cousin, and I putting on a sold out concert on my papaw’s front porch; to putting my baby dolls to sleep with lullabies. Music has always been a big part of my life: it was the one thing I could always count on, no matter where I went; and that still stands true today.
These are large pieces of information that show that involvement in the arts can help with far more than just reading music or singing. Another very reliable source, the Department of Education, has also noticed this. “Studies conducted by the DOE [Department of Education] have found a positive correlation between arts involvement and success in other subjects such as mathematics, science, and literature” (Flynn). Clearly, arts have an impact on students, their core education, and even the student’s
Someone once said, “Music speaks what cannot be expressed soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul.” Music to me is a great stress reliever and it helps motivate me for the rest of the day. Band has been in my life since I first played an instrument my sixth-grade year. I first started band when I was in the sixth-grade of middle school.
On top of that, the so-called benefits of music only take place if you’re especially interested in music. If you’re not, music classes can actually cause more harm than good. Some may argue that there are no disadvantages to musical education, but that’s a very misguided view to take. Everything has disadvantages, and this is no exception. In a survey taken by New York Times, a high school student named Jacob responded: “I was forced, against my will, to partake in fine arts programs throughout the time I was in elementary school…
Music has always been a part of my life. In definition, it is “vocal or instrumental sounds combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.” Ever since I was a young child, I have loved music. The strong, steady beats, the entrancing melodies, and the lyrics that vary between heartwarming and heart-wrenching have always had an unexplainable effect on my life. Music seems to have the ability to change certain aspects of my world.
