I was sprinting through the woods, water splashing from the leaves to my face. I glanced up at the thin grey clouds circling in the midnight sky. Though it was a sight, I couldn’t stop. The anxiety was suffocating, the terror made my knees go weak, but I had to keep going. I had to run or they would catch me, and I was not going to end up like the others. * * * * * * I sat at the window sill, as I have been doing all week, counting the raindrops. My empty apartment was silent except for the nearly mute news network that I had on in the back. I continued to watch the droplets fall from the sky, but as I began to lose focus of the water, I noticed my faint reflection forming in the glass, as if I were there, but not entirely.
