Huxley goes into depth about the minds of a civilization that is built around the concept of conditioning and cloning. The reader travels with Huxley through a multitude of ideas that all share a similar concept which is to dull the emotions that these people face on a daily basis. These people are constantly faced with emotions and ideas that they have been conditioned to run from ever since birth. Even though their happiness is fake and all the pleasure and good feelings they have aren’t real, most of them are perfectly comfortable with living this way, far from the truth of what it is to be human. Huxley also encourages the reader to realize that this society is also built on consumerism, whereby they are conditioned to buy things irrelevant of whether or not they need them. They designed the society to provide stability and one of the ways that they do that is by making every single person have to buy more and more things to enjoy their lives. They have these strict standards for every device and product and make it so that they have to buy multiple different parts of a product to make more money. The whole society culturally is about the pursuit of happiness and how they may never achieve full happiness because all they do is run from their emotions and problems. The people in this society are conditioned to believe that they have a perfect life. After the invention of technology, people began to excessively use it; it became an escape for people to run and hide from their lives and not deal with the problems that they had. It came to a point where the majority of people were actually so unhappy with their lives that they fled to devices and electronics to hide and run or distract themselves from how little they enjoyed their actual lives. Something as simple as YouTube videos are used in daily life to help people escape from the situations that they are dealing with and help them relax and take a break from all the stress and difficulties in their current life. They run away from their problems just like the people in Brave New World. Just not always to the same extreme point that they do. Most of the problems that people face in their lives can be dealt with fairly easily, but when faced with an obstacle most people would rather find a way around it than face it head
