Edward Michael “Bear “Grylls, a man known the world over through his television show “Man vs Wild,” is a pop culture icon until this day. He is known as a British explorer, writer, and television host who hailed from the country of Ireland. He was born on the seventh of June, 1974 (age 43 currently) in Donaghadee, Northern Ireland. He grew up in an adventurous family where he learned and discovered a lot of his skills and passions. His two parents were both involved in politics, as he was the son of Conservative politician Sir Michael Grylls and Sarah Grylls, who was the daughter of politician Patricia Ford. Bear Grylls had one sister named Lara Fawcett, who nicknamed him “Bear” at only one week old. With his family, he learned a lot of his adventurous skills and hobbies; as well as his belief, which he stated, was the backbone of his life. Bear Grylls was educated in a multitude of schools: Eaton House, Ludgrove School, Eton College, University of West England, and the University of London. He learned Spanish and German from the schools, and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Hispanic studies. “Man vs Wild” not only popularized Bear Grylls, but it also popularized mainstream survival based television shows. He would go on to create many more television shows based on surviving in the wild. This would include television shows with celebrities and even the presence of former US President Barack Obama himself. These shows are currently still being aired on television until this day. He went to create many more accomplishments by being a writer and motivational speaker. He currently has a multitude of books, and continues to give motivational speeches around the
