Georgia has had many major events and many important people throughout the years. A few of those important people included Andrew Young, Jimmy Carter, and Maynard Jackson who all had major impacts on the Film Industry and Olympic Games. Andrew Young was offered a job position as a pastor at Bethany Congressional Church. He moved to Thomasville, Georgia when he accepted this offer. He was very active in the Civil Rights Movement and his main focus was voting registration drives. Andrew Young resigned from his job as a pastor and joined the SCLC and he started to work for citizenship schools. This organization practiced non-violent protests. He was born in Plains, Georgia and he became a community leader of the Plains. He had a very successful career and he was a popular governor. He won the Nobel Peace prize, and his accomplishments after he was President were better than any other President. He went to the Naval Academy and he also served in the Navy. After that, he was elected as state senate in 1962. His main focus was education. He was so loved and popular that he was re-elected for state senate in 1964. Serving his 2nd term. Later down the road, Carter was interested in running for Governor. He sadly came in third behind Lestor Maddox and Ellis Arnall. Thankfully in 1970, he ran again and was elected as governor. His choices and everything that he did as governor and senate made him so well liked that he was nominated in the presidential election and defeated President Ford in 1976. He has many achievements, but also many failures in his career. One of his disappointing decisions was boycotting the Olympics in 1980. One of his achievements was the Carter Center. The Olympics was an international athletic event. In 1996 the Olympics was hosted in Atlanta, Georgia. This benefited Georgia economically, and it brought many people and lots of tourism. When there is more tourism then there are more people and when there is more people then there is more money which means the economy is greatly benefitted by people.
