Understanding personality and how all people carry themselves can be looked at in many different ways. There are many different perspectives that tie into personality. Theses perspectives include psychodynamic, behavioral, humanistic, and biological approaches. These perspectives are the 4 main perspectives which lead scientist and psychologists to understand personality and psychological disorders. Out of all of the four perspectives the most appealing perspective is the biological perspective. The biological perspective plays an important role in developing personality. The biological side of personality focuses on the link between personality, DNA, and the processes of the brain. It also focuses on other internal physiological and genetic factors. These personality traits shown at birth are defined to be biologically processed. The way the brain responds to different stimuli can be referred to as self-regulation. Hans Eysenck, Gordon Allport, and Raymond Cattell are all theorist that believe personality traits are tracked back to the way the brain is made up. The way hormones and other neuro-process work also tie into personality. One of the biggest cases that showed the link between personality and the brain was Phineas Gage in 1858. A railroad spike pierced Gage's head and ruptured his frontal lobe. Due to the rupture in his frontal lobe Gage experienced many personality changes which the frontal lobe initially creates. This incident helps us to understand and get a better idea that the brain has a major part to play in developing personality.
