Contextual Factors of Trinity Lutheran School Trinity Lutheran School is a grade school located in Tinley Park, IL. This school is based out of Trinity Lutheran Church and their building. The school itself consists of 246 students as of the 2022-2023 school year. This rate is expected to advance next year, as it has done in previous years. The racial backgrounds of the school include 41% African American, 57% Caucasian, 1% Asian, and 1% Hispanic. This shows the diversity and acceptance of particularly African American students and the attention to different backgrounds in the school as a whole. The arrangement of the room is very traditional, with rows of desks facing the smart board. However, children are given freedom in their seating, breaking away from the traditional chair with moving stools, or cushions on their chairs to give them more freedom and help them stay focused more easily, depending on the student. The children do a lot of learning from the smart board, through videos and online lesson plans, while also learning how to use technology with daily computer lab time. Each student has access to a Chromebook for this period of the class. The classroom itself is decorated with posters of class roles, bible verses, grammar rules, and math facts. There are a variety of topics and colors in these posters, making the room more exciting and creative. It gives the children a chance to learn even by just looking around the room. Classroom rules are a large focus in this classroom, with songs to have the children quiet down or get back on track. The teacher also has set rules and time periods for each bathroom and snack break. Furthermore, most periods through the day are forty minutes for each subject, with often a two minute break in the middle. The class is evenly distributed of male and female. Eighteen of these students are Caucasian, while the other five are a mix of four African American and one Hispanic. While the school as a whole is almost equally Caucasian or African American, this class goes against the common thread. In this class, because of its nature as a private institution, the children do not receive an IEP. In fact, when entering this institution, the parents waive their legal right for all the services in an IEP. Instead, students receive a service plan through the school’s Lutheran Service Ministry Education program and can still receive some, but very limited, services from the local public school district. However, if the students enter Trinity Lutheran School with an IEP, the school will do their best to honor those accommodations as well as provide services of their own, which three students currently
