Don't tell or believe things that a stranger tells you because it could hurt you in the long run. In Backlash written by Sarah Darer Littman, Lara a typical teenager going into high school. Her year is going pretty good until Bree had to ruin it. In the story Lara has just started high school. Her middle school years were not that great but she wants to start over. Her ex best friend Bree hates her, and her sister thinks that ever thing is about Lara. Lara's mom is a control freak and Lara hates that. In the book it Lara says that she hate her mom. Lara's dad is there but he really doesn't interfere with Lara and her mom. One day a sign in school is posted, the sign reads"Cheering Tryouts." He hints to Lara that they have a dance coming up at his "high school." Lara says that "it would depend on who she is at the dance with if she would go." Christian then says "What is you were at a dance with me." Lara gets really excited and says she would love to go to a dance with him. Lara believes that he will ask her to the dance so she starts picking out dresses and shoes and Bree and her friends find it so funny. One night Bree's mom walks into her room and sees what Bree is doing but instead of punishing her she helps Bree. She gets on the computer and starts saying stuff to Lara. Lara is still flirting and believing whatever this guy is telling her. About a week passes and Bree wants to hurt Lara. She goes on the computer and starts typing rude stuff to Lara. She types like "You are a b****, I would never go to a dance with you, Life would be better without you here. Lara wakes up and sees all the nasty messages people have left her. She starts to cry and thinks what if life was better without me. She steps out in to her hallway and walk into the bathroom. She opens up the medicine cabinet and grabs the bottles of medicine. She sits in the tub and begins to swallow the medicine as she hear her sister banging on the bathroom
