In the story, “The Most Dangerous Game”, by Richard Connell, the darker action was when Rainsford killed General Zaroff. Richard Connell’s characters in the story follow the actions that were based off Charles Darwin’s theory of survival of the fittest. In “The Most Dangerous Game”, the darker action was Rainsford killing General Zaroff. The intention for this was because of their agreement.
There are some stories that seem to drag on and on because of their extremely descriptive writing. There are others that fly by in an instant but leave the reader more confused than when he started. Then there are stories that use the perfect balance of description and suspense so that they enhance the story and each other. “The Most Dangerous Game” written by Richard Connell is an excellent example of this crucial yet delicate balance. There are many points in the story where masterfully expanded moments capture all the fine sensory details of a scene; nevertheless, these points also contain captivating suspense to keep the story interesting.
The most Dangerous Game In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, Rainsford was on the a ship watching the sea and they hit a bump and he fell off. It was pitch black when Rainford fell off, then he started swimming he heard three gun three shots.
Everyone has to overcome adversity in their life. In Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game” the main character, Rainsford, fell of his boat at night time On the Island, Rainsford finds a home where General Zaroff lives. The problem is that the only way he can leave the island is if he survives a “game”. Where General Zaroff is hunting him. So Rainsford has to survive for three days.

The protagonist, Rainsford, is trapped on an island by a mad man called Zaroff. Zaroff uses the island to lure in boats and capture the crews. He then hunts the men as if it were a game.
In the short story “The Most Dangerous Game,” the author Richard Connel uses vivid imagery at the beginning of the story to set the mood and foreshadow the conflict for readers. For example, after Rainsford, the main character, fell off the boat, the author wrote: “The light of the yacht became faint and ever-vanishing fireflies (page 63)” This certain description sets up the mood of the description, both desperation and hopelessness and presents it to the audience. Nevertheless, the author also wrote: “...a high, screaming sound… in an extremity of anguish and terror.(page 63)” to illustrate the upcoming conflicts adroitly.

Throughout the story, Sanger Rainsford and General Zaroff are on an ongoing hunt for each other. The motif of hunting is repeated multiple times from the beginning to the end of the story. For example, Rainsford says, “Hunting is the best sport in the world, I always say” (Connell 2).
“There is always someone who cares more, cries more, loves more, get hurt most and forgives more” -Unknown. In any given relationship ultimately one person has more power over the other. Throughout most stories they usually happen to have character relationships where one always has more power over the other. This theory comes from the multiple examples below. Zaroff and Rainsford are a key example of the thesis that one character has more power than the other.
In Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game,” Sanger Rainsford is forced to test his survival skills while he is intensely hunted by an experienced war general named General Zaroff. In this story, Rainsford exhibits some very helpful characteristics like his resourcefulness, his strategic planning, and his ability to reason. As a result of Rainsford’s questioning the validity of General Zaroff’s hunting methods, he ended up playing in the game. Although I believe Rainsford is a very helpful, interesting, and dynamic character, at the end of the story, he must give up his own personal morals to win the game.

For example when Zaroff tells Rainsford about the type of hunting he does, which he hunts actual men. “Hunting? Good God, General Zaroff, what you speak of is murder” (Connell 23).
In “The Most Dangerous Game” Connell uses indirect characterization to show that Rainsford is selfish,humane,and highly skilled. The reader gets a better physical description of General Zaroff. There is not a physical description of Rainsford. General Zaroff Is more fully characterized,Richard Connell,planned for Rainsford to be the dynamic character. Zaroff is physically portrayed more than Rainford and his belonging are better depicted.
