A Child Called “It” That child that was called “It “or the “boy” has a name. That boy, now a grown man is named Dave Pelzer. In the beginning, I wasn’t sure what I wanted my choice of book to be. After the suggestion of this book, I decided it on it. I was intrigued to learn about Dave’s story when I briefly learned what he went through. As well as him being a young boy, and his story being an extreme case of abuse with him surviving it. Dave’s strength on survival to live another day and come out on top. Their mother was an amazing cook, a clean fiend, took almost every holiday seriously, and loved her family with every bone in her body. They had multiple pet animals for a while, and went on endless family vacations and day outings. The Pelzer family overall lived happily at one point in their life. Things radically changed at home. I could tell that Dave thought there was no one or nothing out there that could help him. The whole time though there were people that were ready to save him. Again, his resilience resonates through his story. Dave thought of multiple ways to make it each day. Even when he silently wanted his mother to kill him off he kept
