In the books Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing the plots are may be different but there is one underlying concept in both of the books. Love, in addition to the many other pieces of the plot, is a very common theme in Shakespeare's works. Whether the type of love drives someone to kill themselves over it or if it leads to a successful relationship until they die Shakespeare showed there are different levels of love, like doting, immature love and mature love to the readers through Hero and Claudio's story and Romeo and Juliet's story.
First, the definition of dote according to Merriam Webster is to be lavish or excessive in one's attention, fondness, or affection —usually used with on.Doting can be a false love based on looks or whatever a person is excessively fond of and is not real love, but parents dotingly love their children and that can come from real love. In the case of Hero and Claudio it is first doting love, not coming from true love and finding no errors. This false love is very common in the books Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing. When Claudio dotes on Hero, Don John makes up lies about Hero and says, “Even she: Leonato's Hero, your Hero, everyone's Hero”. You see this in Romeo and Juliet's love for they want to get married the next day. In the next scene Romeo goes to Friar Lawrence and asks him to marry him and Juliet. Friar Lawrence agrees to marry them, not because he actually thinks it will be a lasting relationship or that it is true love, but because he believes that the feud between the families will stop if they are married together.
