Shakespeare Essay Some people think that teaching Romeo and Juliet in the ninth grade is too hard or deep. Some people think that Romeo and Juliet is good to teach in the ninth grade to learn life lessons. My view on teaching Romeo and Juliet is good to teach in the 9th grade because it is a good coming of age story and helps learn about life. One reason I think that Romeo and Juliet is good to teach in ninth grade is because it helps young students to learn about life such as love, and how it can destroy or help someone in love. It is also relevant to teenage boys and girls that are going through problems in the 9th grade.
Nicholas Brookswolf Wallace 2A 5/18/23 How Romeo and Juliet was Inspired by Pyramus and Thisbe Romeo and Juliet seemingly took heavy inspiration from the myth of Pyramus and Thisbe, as the two have many similarities. That being said, they also each have distinct differences that help shape similar storylines. Taking a look at both stories reveals common themes and unique features. In particular, the theme of fate is stressed in both stories, drawing connections between the young star-crossed lovers from Shakespeare’s tragedy as well as the ill-fated couple from the ancient myth.
William Shakespeare’s inspiration for Romeo and Juliet came from a poem. Romeo and Juliet is a story about two star crossed lovers, whose families were feuding. Juliet was a Capulet, and Romeo was a Montague. Romeo attended a party held by the Capulets where he intended to see Rosaline. While at the party Romeo saw Juliet for the first time and fell madly in love, forgetting about his first love Rosaline.
Every time a movie is remade, there are bound to be differences between the original and the new versions. Romeo and Juliet has been adapted into multiple movies, each portraying the tragic play in the director’s own way. In the 1967 version of Romeo and Juliet, directed by Franco Zeffirelli, portrays Romeo and Juliet in a lighthearted manner. In the 1996 version, directed by Baz Luhrmann, is more violent and filled with action. In the 1967 Romeo and Juliet movie, the fight scene between Mercutio and Tybalt is portrayed in a jesting manner based on the light-hearted personality of Mercutio whereas, in the 1996 version, the battle scene is dark and violent due to the brooding and notoriously problematic personality of the modern Mercutio.

“Romeo + Juliet” is a wonderful adaption of the classic Shakespeare playwright. It is a fine introduction to Shakespeare for the young because the setting is a bit more modern thus they can relate to the film more. There are many concepts in this film that contrast with each other, love and hate, youth and age, life and death this just makes the plot more intense. Romeo was portrayed by Leonardo Dicaprio and Juliet was portrayed by Claire Danes. Both of them are excellent actors and have satisfying chemistry in the film.
One piece of work is the novel The Notebook, throughout the novel the main character named Noah describes the story of his wife Allie and him. Allie and Noah were in different social classes. This is reminiscent of the play Romeo and Juliet because they were also in different classes, one was a Montague while the other was a Capulet. In the two stories the two couples could not deny their love for each other. At the end of The Notebook, Allie and Noah die peacefully in a nursing home together.

Dylan When a movie has an ending different from its source it can be annoying. In Romeo and Juliet the play ties up the story phenomenally, at least compared to the movie. The movie messes up the ending so bad it’s hard to tell that it’s ending. The characters are introduced differently and there's no rhyme or reason to why it’s changed in the first place. The play Romeo and Juliet is better than the movie because it was shortened, changed who died, and mess up the ending.
I know it has been some time since I last wrote, but as of recently, my life has taken a sharp turn, and so I felt the need to confide in someone. Love - only you know of the hatred I shared for such a beautifully destructive emotion. From courtship to marriage, I never perceived that I, one with no interest in such matters, would ever succumb to love’s strong grip. Yet here I am, soon to be married in secrecy to Romeo Montague, the son of my family’s sworn enemy. Although our union would face the harsh objection of each other’s families, I can say with great confidence that I would have never foreseen the happiness I feel this moment.
The movie Titanic, directed by James Cameron, is often labelled as an adaptation of the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, due to their stories of forbidden love leading to tragedy. However, the productions are separated by the choices the characters make. Romeo, when he receives news of Juliet’s death, immediately starts planning his suicide, when he says, “Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight./ Let’s see for means” (V. I. 34-35.).
