William Shakespeare’s inspiration for Romeo and Juliet came from a poem. Romeo and Juliet is a story about two star crossed lovers, whose families were feuding. Juliet was a Capulet, and Romeo was a Montague. Romeo attended a party held by the Capulets where he intended to see Rosaline. While at the party Romeo saw Juliet for the first time and fell madly in love, forgetting about his first love Rosaline. Romeo and Juliet secretly marry. Eventually their marriage ends in tragedy, and ends the feud between the Capulet and Montague families. Furthermore, Romeo and Juliet the play is more similar than different to the recent movie. In the play Paris has his servant put his ear to the ground. When Romeo and Paris started fighting, Paris’s servant went to get others for help. In the movie Romeo was saying goodbye to Benvolio before the fight with Paris. When Romeo and Paris started fighting Benvolio went to find Friar Laurence. Next, in the play Friar John went to find Friar Laurence to tell him that Romeo did not receive his letter about Juliet. However, in the movie, Benvolio goes to find Friar Laurence to tell him that Romeo did not receive his letter about Juliet. The death scene with Romeo and Juliet is different in the play than it was in the movie. In the play Romeo drank the poison and died. Juliet woke up and saw that Romeo was dead, so she took Romeo’s dagger and stabbed herself. In the movie, Juliet wakes up and sees that Romeo is dying because he drank the poison. Juliet watches Romeo’s slow and agonizing death and after he dies in front of her she took Romeo’s dagger and stabbed
