Dylan When a movie has an ending different from its source it can be annoying.In Romeo and Juliet the play ties up the story phenomenally, at least compared to the movie. The movie messes up the ending so bad it’s hard to tell that it’s ending. The characters are introduced differently and there's no rhyme or reason to why it’s changed in the first place. The play Romeo and Juliet is better than the movie because it was shortened, changed who died, and mess up the ending. Throughout the movie counterpart to Romeo and Juliet many important scenes that defined certain characters are cut, hurting the story. One such scene includes an important realization of Juliet, she can’t trust nurse. This loss of story changes nurses very presence in the story, making her an enemy of sorts. Next is more of a concept than a scene, When Romeo returns to see Juliet it’s suppose to be un-noticed at first, instead the movie makes a full on most-wanted police chase. Last but not least Friar Lawrence and Balthasar were not already present at Juliet's “grave” to be questioned. Tybalt's death had a number of differences, first Tybalt never came back to Mercutio's body, next he ran from Romeo rather than fighting, and he wasn’t mentioned in the “grave” scene. Next Paris was supposed to die so Romeo’s character can be seen as having a conscience. Lastly a little less important but very unbalanced, lady Montague did not die so the Montages have one death in the family, next paris didn’t die so prince’s family has one death, and lastly the Capulets have two deaths in their family.
