DIY Yogurt is a family owned frozen yogurt shop on Cape Coral Parkway. The owner, Kelly Munson, has been running the place since 2012 with her husband Kirk. Kelly calls the shop her hobby and opened it because she saw the demand for healthy ice cream alternatives growing. All her yogurts are under 150 calories a serving and she even offers low calorie yogurts that run 40 to 60 calories a serving. In addition to frozen yogurt they also offer gelato. With having 12 different yogurt flavors, 10 gelatos, 6 cones and over 50 toppings, DIY Yogurt is stocked and ready for business. Kelly is a advertisement marketer for Comcast but has never tried to advertise her shop in newspapers, Television, or even street event right in front of DIY Yogurt on Cape Coral Parkway. There are many opportunities for DIY such as a second location and growth in revenue, Kelly needs to work on renovating and advertising a shop. The marketplace is amazing, with being less than two miles from the Cape Coral Yacht Club, beach visitors would love to stop in for a little cool down. There are not many competitors in near proximity but some customers say they prefer driving down to Menchies or other large franchises. Many customers complain about the flavors being bland or not offering enough flavors for gluten free or sugar free. Compared to Menchies, DIY Yogurt is very different. The exterior is dull and does not pop to drivers passing by. DIY Yogurt needs to add color to the outside and décor. Even if they were to just add a colorful sign, it would still catch the attention of bypassers. For the interior, there's changes needed. The floors are laminate wood that stains easily and is starting to road. It would be nicer to replace with a light tile. The baseboard is filthy needing a wash, the walls could some touch ups, and most of the machines need to be updated. With a budget of $9,000 and closing the shop for a day, Kelly should be able to do all these renovations that should help her increase her revenue by almost 20%. By improving her machines it will save the company money in the long run. Kelly spend over $600 every time a machine breaks. If she were to invest into newer machines that are about $1200 she will be saving money in the long run. DIY Yogurt is paying their workers $8.50 an hour when the employees are the ones running the business. Kelly and Kirk come in to DIY Yogurt about once every two weeks making the four teenagers that worker their do everything from working the cash register to refilling the yogurts and toppings when deliveries come all the way to taking the machines apart and cleaning weekly.
