Although, there have been issues with gentrification, which is the arrival of wealthier individuals migrating into an urban district, causing the rents and property values to increase and changes in the character and culture of the district. These drastic changes can sometimes verse desegregation back to segregation because many of these urban areas are populated with African Americans who are in poverty and the wealthy who are majority Caucasian. This migration will begin to take over forcing the African Americans to move out due to the increase of rent.

The media illuminates many important events that show how racist white people are treating black people and showing people in the North who are against segregation and support integration.
Imagine there being a school four short blocks away from your house, but you can’t send your school-age children there because they are black. That’s exactly what happened before schools were integrated during the CIvil Rights Movement. Prior to integration, all black students went to one school, and all whites went to another school, no matter the location of the school. This was not only inconvenient, but could be dangerous for black students who had to travel long distances over train tracks. Eventually, parents started to fight back.

Segregation became a big deal in many states. One major example is Plessy v. Ferguson. Homer Plessy, a biracial man, sat with white people on a train. Plessy got arrested for this, and lost his case in court.

Martin Luther King Jr. helped us realize that segregation and poverty are wrong. He also helped us realize that we should treat people the same. No matter race, color, or gender. He has impacted our everyday lives with the Civil Rights Act and his “I Have a Dream…” speech. He is an important man with an important history.
Martin Luther King and other civil rights activist did not bring light to the unjustified treatment of African American people at that time there could still be the possibility of African-Americans still being treated unjustly, being harassed, being assaulted, and being killed. At the time there were a lot of people that felt as if Martin Luther King had no right to speak out against the law, but if Martin Luther King had not demonstrated civil disobedience a lot more African American people could have been hurt. It is important as Citizens to bring to light laws that we feel are unfit for all of us to the government. Civil Disobedience allows us to do that and in turn has taken some prejudiced laws away.
