The south influence Flannery O’Connor to write novels in many ways. In the story “A Good Man is Hard to Find”, O’ Connor point of view was the encounter grandma had with Misfit. The encounter became a life or death situation. The moment grandma embraced her Christianity was at the time of her death, which brings great triumph. This brings up a question. Why do she perceive herself as a superior above others and her Christian beliefs? What do I like is grandma called out to Jesus in her time of need. I feel O’Connor wanted to use her religion in the situation that’s dealing with life or death. No matter what someone may be going through or how they are living, Jesus will always be there. Grandma thought grace would save her and Misfit. All Misfit wanted her to do was to be quiet. Maybe if she would have listen to Misfit he wouldn’t have killed her. I think she got herself killed. The underlying message of this story is the good vs the evil. You have an escape convict, who murders a Georgia family with no sympathy for what he has don’t. When the grandmother recognized who he was by his name, Misfit then thinks that she is crazy for calling him by his name. This situation put the family in real danger. Calling on Jesus was her last attempt. The evil was Misfit good side. He was not lacking on faith. He knew what faith was but had lack of faith in it. As she was calling on Jesus this made Misfit very annoy. The grandmother spiritual side began to come out of her. She might have been a Christian the whole time with us not knowing.
