The other element of a successful play that stood out in this production was fluidity. This musical moved smoothly from beginning to end and was easy to follow. Overall, this production was a success and the performance was
Virtual Dance Concert/Performance Attendance Paper Hanna Garber DANC 206-094 Revelations choreographer Alvin Ailey draws inspiration from his childhood growing up in rural Texas as a member of the Baptist Church. The piece uses African-American spirituals, song sermons, gospel songs, and holy blues to elevate a story showing the struggles faced by African-Americans in the south in the 1930s. Approximately 23 million people have experienced Revelations since its birth in 1960. While experiencing this piece for the first time, I kept in mind the three elements of criticism; description, analysis, and evaluation. This performance included mainly African-American ballet dancers on a stage for a live audience in 2016.
1. Write a 150-word paragraph in which you describe the dramatic context of this passage. Thomas resulted to declaring his speech in Act I when he was in an argument with Humphrey and Margaret concerning his status as the devil and his ability to predict when Judgment day is. During the speech Tyson, Thomas, Margaret, Humphrey, Nicholas, Alizon, Richard, the Chaplain, and Jennet were listening, however they still had their doubts towards Thomas’s confession as the devil. This large audience was beneficial for Thomas because his speech covers a critical thematic issue in the play – that is the role of the soul which appears several times in the play and this theme affects Thomas because it represents his life or his choice to leave the world or not.
Julie Taymor’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream film adaptation creates a fantastical spin on the well-known Shakespeare play. The director is able to create an effective dream-like setting with the use of projections, lighting, and puppetry. From the beginning, there is a sense of wonder created, as without word or introduction, Puck, played by Kathryn Hunter, glides onto stage and lays down on a mattress supported by branches. Puck is then lifted into the air and a large white sheet consumes the stage. Even for those familiar with the play, such as myself, it immediately commands your mind to travel to the dream world Taymor has created.
In 12th night Act 2, scene 5 appears in the second half of the story. This scene showed the head servant of Olivia’s household, Malvolio getting led into believing that his mistress is in love with him. He believed that his mistress was in love with him because Maria, another servant in Olivia’s house wrote a letter in Olivia’s handwriting to make him think Olivia was in love with him. This scene is significant for two reasons, firstly it was an event that continued a second plot line inside the story within itself, and it was the scene that helped the audience understand the character of Malvolio a lot better.
The version of Macbeth Act 5 Scene 1 that was the most true to Shakespeare 's vision was the Kate Fleetwood version. The Kate Fleetwood version was more successful than the Judi Dench version due to the portrayal of Lady Macbeth and her downfall. In the Judi Dench version of Act 5 Scene 1 of Macbeth the tone is sad not crazy. As well as Lady Macbeth is portrayed as more sad than irrational/anxious and guilty.
My chosen quotations illustrate family and friendship because they highlight the different aspects of family and friendship in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Boyden’s Three Day Road. For instance, the quotations from Three Day Road involve jealousy, forgiveness, and loyalty in friendship. Similarly, the quotations from A Midsummer Night’s Dream also cover jealousy, in addition to parent/child disagreements, and sibling rivalry. I incorporated pictures within this PowerPoint to illustrate the theme as the pictures work hand in hand with my descriptions to convey the different aspects of the theme that each quotation highlight.

Midsummer Night’s Dream is a comedy written by William Shakespeare in 1595 during the magical Renaissance period, or sometimes known as the “Art” period. During this period arts become a culture and a living. From beautiful paintings that made you want to stare and wonder to music that sounded out worldly, from a beautiful planet where this music could originate from. William Shakespeare decided to merge two beautiful arts into one scene. Shakespeare is well-known for his dramatic plays.
Saturn is the second largest planet and sixth number planet of our solar system. Saturn is a gas giant made up of hydrogen and helium. It is big enough to hold more than 760 Earths within it, and is second massive planet after Jupiter, roughly 95 times Earth 's mass. However, Saturn has the lowest density among all the planets of solar system .It spins faster than any other planet except Jupiter which help Saturn with its magnetic field which is about 578 times more powerful than Earth 's. Although Saturn has at least 62 moons but its largest moon, Titan, is slightly bigger than Mercury, and is the second-largest moon in the solar system after Jupiter 's moon Ganymede (our moon is fifth largest).Although it is the most interesting planet
The Ironic Scenes of Shakespeare’s Famous Play “Never did mockers waste more idle breath,” cried Helena, in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, incorrectly thinking she was being mocked (Shakespeare 3.2 170). This is one of multiple examples of dramatic irony in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Dramatic irony is when the audience knows more about a character 's situation than the character does. This is one of three types of irony, the other types are situational and verbal.
I chose to create posters and storyboards for a modern day version of Macbeth which focuses on Act 5 scenes 6-8 because when reading this conclusion of Macbeth I envisioned it as having a similar story and tone as a modern epic film. This project was completed in the format of storyboards rather than creating the actual film due to the vast amount of time I would need to film a project that would fit the tone I was looking for in the reduction. I read the last scenes of Macbeth as taking the story to a more grandiose scale that emphasized the importance of the occurrences in the play, achieving this tone while portraying my idea in an appropriate light is something I would seek to do if I filmed the project. I chose the idea of the storyboard
In William Shakespeare’s play A Midsummer Night’s Dream the circumstances surrounding love have been put into question, this occurs when a magical nectar is put in the eyes of three major characters, and changes their feelings towards the people in their lives. Titania, Lysander and Demetrius all have had the nectar put into their eyes, though Demetrius avoids having this done to him in act 2 scene 2 which is the scene that the focus of this paper will be looking at. Throughout the play, we focus largely on the love life of Helena, which unfortunately does not seem to exist. She is in love with Demetrius, whom does not care for her in the same way, he does not cherish her at all before he is under the influence of magic. Once Lysander declares
